| Organic Flea Control? I originally posted this in the wrong section.... Anyone ever used Wondercide Natural Flea and Tick Control?!? I'm considering this as well as Revolution and Sentinel, which are obviously not natural ... but I need to know if the natural one works b/c I cannot STAND fleas!!! Thanks! |

| One can only dream... I have yet seen something that works and is not a pesticide. Kaji only uses heart worm meds, no flea control. He doesn't go out, so I'd rather use less poison for now. I'm debating putting him back on Advantix (which is what his vet gave me) but doing half doses. Bijou would probably do ok with a 1/4 dose since she's so tiny. If you do find something natural that will work, let me know. I hate using all these poisons.

No Longer a Member | You can always try lavander oil, a friend of mine has a dog that is allergic to the standard flea control methods, so she puts a few drops of lavander oil on his neck the way you would with flea drops. She also sprays his usual bed spots with a lavander spray and she hasn't had a problem in the 4 years she has been in Naples (a huge flea problem area!) |

No Longer a Member | She has a 120+ lb dog, and she buys the small bottles of lavander oil and says she uses a bottle on him once a month but she does dilute it with water. But she also doesnt bathe him on the regular, probably once every two months unless he gets dirty. She says she sprays a lot of lavander products all over her house once a month and she barely sees mosquitos as well so its a great product as far as I know. I think next year I'm going to use this method, because I already started frontline before my friend mentioned the lavander oil. Here is one link: Rid Your Pet of Fleas with Lavender - Associated Content - associatedcontent.com And another one that I like better: Flea Control There is a lot of info all over the web about using natural oils, lavender just comes in so many different products. As long as you use organic on the dog, you can use the non organic around the house if it is cheaper. Hope this helps you out. |

My furkids Donating Member | I had also posted, last year, Peppermint oil...you put 15 drops in a cup of water. Spray a paper towel and wipe it on the dog, concentrating on areas where ticks are likely to go. My Mom got this from a holistic vet. Mine girls haven't had fleas at all...and no ticks! You have to put it on occasionally. I love lavender...I think I might try that one too! Thanks for the info!

| Hi there! I just purchased 'Triple Sure' from the natural wonder pet store. It seems to be working well for both our barn cats and our indoor Yorkies. Here's their link: Natural-Wonder-Pet-Store.com It has both peppermint and cedar, but it's not overpowering. So far I like it...plus you get two large spray bottles. I keep the second bottle out in the barn to use on my horses...it works for them too! No...I don't work for them, nor do I sell it...just sharing my experience with the product. Even though the natural products need to be reapplied more often, I prefer them over chemicals. The lavender oil sounds good too! Ingrid *Crickett * Lancelot * Sassy * Angel |

| I would love to use the essential oils but with my super sensitive nose, I don't know if I could stand the smell. I can't use perfumes at all, or most scented candles, lotions, and body sprays. They all give me a headache! Kaji is such a cuddly boy and life wouldn't be the same if I couldn't have him on my lap 24/7. I guess I should bite the bullet and try the essential oil route and go with the one that gives me the least reaction.
