Should we allow scabs to heal on their own?

Hi everyone! I had posted a thread not too along ago, basically Coco had a little lump under his jaw and I had it checked out by the vet and he said it was normal and it would go away on it's own. Now the problem is Coco somehow broke the lump or he was probably playing and just popped it. Now he never bled or anythign I just realized he broke it because I noticed a scab under his jaw and realized it was a minor open wound but no blood at all I could just see some skin in the open wound. My vet was closed that day so I decided to wait. Today I see that the wound has closed and the only thing that remains is a bumpy scab...it doesn't hurt him when I touch him nor is there any sign of blood. Should I let the scab heal on it's own? Have you guys had any experience with wounds? Please let me know I appreciate all of your advice!!!

If you want to look up my previous posts I am going through this now. I have a pup whose head got scratched by a bow and it formed a scab that had to come off because it was infected. I trimmed up all the hair around it and am putting antibiotic cream on it. It's now turning into a scab again. The vet said not to let any hair get in it during the healing process or it could get infected again. So she's sporting a bald spot on top of her head.

Oh yeah Í'm doing some research at the moment to see if I can find anything. I didn't know I had to cut the hair around the wound..and now I'm a little worried because it seems like the wound has completely closed and now it's a pure scab. What type of antibiotic cream are you using?? Ones from the drugstore?

Hers had matted hair kinda lifting the scab off. So we trimmed it right off bcs there was a funky smell coming from it. The cream I'm using is bactruban. It's a prescription meds one of my kids got, but neosporin antibiotic is good too my vet said. Can u take a pic of it?
