| Flea and Tick prevention I have been in a dilemma for a while about what you use on scruffy. We live in southern Texas so flea and tick prevention is a MUST. And we live in an apartment complex with lots of other dogs. I tried Frontline but the tick medicine in it made him so uncomfortable, it would ruin his whole day. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking about an oral preventative that my vet recommeded to me.. Comfortis? Any suggestions would be helpful |

YT 3000 Club Member | I have been looking at wondercide which is in texas it is cedar with something else in it and kills fleas on contact, but I have not gotten any comments on it. I use frontline plus on chester in wa state has done well. Im not sure about the oral stuff and if it kills eggs and larvae, I think just the adult fleas |

| Was this Frontline or Frontline Plus? Comfortis doesn't kill ticks. If you have to have something for ticks, then Advantix would probably be the next choice. None of this stuff is very healthy though, unfortunately.

| My vet recommends Frontline Plus.

I asked the tech about the products that you use externally on the dogs and she said both those products and internal products are systematic meaning both get into the bloodstream and could affect internal organs. I know some people who think the kind you put on the back of the neck is better than an oral product, but it really winds up the same. Just like a medication patch like we would wear, it still gets into the bloodstream. If it didn't it couldn't do its job!! Also, until my Maddie was old enough to be on Sentinel, I thought the stuff on the back of the neck was messy. Totally just my opinion though!!! | |
