| fruit I'm just curious what kind of fruit is it okay to give as a treat? I give Charlie a little plain chicken once in a while with his dinner. And for a treat he'll get a baby carrot or a little cheese. But last night I was wondering if I could give Charlie a little fruit once in a while. |

| Might try some apple w/o the seeds and skin. 3 of my pups like goldens. Make sure the apple seeds are removed, check the list of "bad" foods on the main page. Zack wants no part of fruit.

| Every dog is different when it comes to that. Roxie threw up from carrots, apples, and chicken...but she has no problem with peanut butter or cheese. Good luck!

| My dogs love pretty much every fruit I give the, Especially banana's and apples. My cocker loves to eat the core when I am done (cannot leave anything food related within her reach..lol) I also have alcohol loving mutts!! Cannot leave a drink on the table and leave for minute. Ripley will lap it up as well as pretty much all my dogs come to think of it. Same with soda.. I have to take it with me when I leave the room. They all love veggies of any kind, oranges, etc.. I only give small pieces of fruit when I am eating it. |

| Bella Loves Fruit! Bella loves apples, blueberries, and cataloupe so far. I cut them in tiny pieces and she gobbles them up. She has no interest in carrots. Those are the only ones I've tried so far. More to come as fruits comes into season. |

| Lennie loves carrots and pretty much any other vegetable, including lettuce. He absolutely loves bananas and strawberries. He doesn't like tangerines - I think it must be the texture.

| When Kacee was a puppy, she absolutely loved watermelon. Not so much anymore.

| I'll check out the forbidden foods to make sure I don't give her anything bad for her. Last night I was eating a bowl of berries, and he was just staring at me. I wasn't sure whether to give it to him or not, though. Peanut butter? How do you give your dog peanut butter? On your finger or from a spoon or on a little bit of bread? I'm probably making a mistake here with Charlie. He just went off his food; although he's never been a huge eater since we got him. Now I give him a few cheerios in with his food or a bit of chicken or tiny bit of hot dog. It's more to entice him to eat. Of course, he's brilliant at picking out what he wants and leaving the rest!! |

As for enticing them to eat, they get half a spoonful of plain yogurt (make sure it's not the kind sweetened with artificial sweetners) mixed into their food. They gobble it up, and the calcium and probiotics are really good for them. I also sometimes do a spoonful of cottage cheese in their food - they go nuts for that. They also get chicken flavored omega 3 oil mixed in with dinner, and they love that. I had a heck of a time getting Oliver to eat, but now our issue is getting him to chew and actually taste it, lol. Both mine love fruits and veggies. Oliver's favorite are Roman Hearts and cauliflower. He hates carrots, but has been eating them now as Mya loves them and he doesn't want her to have them, lol. He loves apple and is starting to like banana and watermelon.

| Thanks Do you know an approximate of how much fruit they can eat per day? As a new yorkie mom, a little amount of food seems like a lot cause they're so tiny and I don't want to overfeed her.
