| My Yorkie's Eating Habits Hi, my 5 month old Yorkie male seems to hardly eat anything. He eats MAYBE 1/4 cup of food a day, even though the food is there for him to eat whenever he wants. He drinks A LOT of water but hardly eats. He's was about 5 lbs and is now about 4.7. Is there a cause for concern or still just going in and out of growth spurts. He has already lost all of his baby teeth so I know that isn't the problem anymore. Please inform me!!! Thank you |

| If he's losing weight I would talk to a vet, just in case. It seems that as a rule, yorkies are a picky breed! What food is your puppy currently eating? You could also mix the kibble with warm water to make it softer and smell more appetizing. |

| Bandit has been through a whole bunch of food because he is extremely picky and has an extremely sensitive stomach. We are currently on Acana (Prairie and Grasslands) and it is by far the best food for us, but if you can't find that near you, I would suggest Wellness SmallBreed which Bandit also liked and did well on. Good luck. I totally understand how frustrating it can be to have such a picky eater. |

| I mix Purina Puppy for Small Breeds and Puppy Chow for small breeds. I've done this since day 1. I was gone for 2 weeks out of the last four and my sister who kept him last week (she has two very small dogs and got to play with them for a whole week) said the first few days he would vomit and not play but at the end he was sleeping next to them and eating about the same as he is now I came home (Friday) and in the past week he has vomited twice. So I figured he either missed me and is acting up or he is missing his puppy friends. The first time I was gone my husband kept him and he went crazy (he is potty trained) but let my husband have it. So I know he is very temperamental. If any of that helps. At times he mopes around and then an hour later he is all lovey |

| Would it be possible to slowly transition to a better food, those aren't the greatest foods. Maybe your pup was throwing up because he was very upset being apart from you? And now like you said, he misses his friends. I would still call the vet to see about the weight loss, and consider switching to a higher-quality food. The higher quality the food, the less the pup will have to eat to get the same nutritional value. |

| Thanks so much! I am new to this whole dog thing. Last question. Lately he is also VERY constipated (will go 2 to 3 days without going) and I know this can lead to him not eating or having a desire to eat. what could cause constipation? Thanks a million |

Try feeding a little bit of pure pumpkin puree to get things moving. | |

| Puppy picky eating habits!!!! Hi, my 5 month old Yorkie male is a very picky eater. He eats MAYBE 1/4 cup of food a day, and I offer twice a day the suggested amount. Initially when he came home he started the same food his breeder suggest, Science Diet and he didn't like after a while, he was vomiting and presenting diahrrea on and of. After a Vet visit we started gradually in Royal Canine he seems to like it at first, but went eventually to same old habit of not eating and vomiting. After all our effort he went thru his first package of Royal Canine food. I need to get him food and am not sure if to get him the same or if we should try another brand maybe grain free. His Vet only told us Yorkies are picky eaters and as long as he is having something to eat, pooping and drinking his regular water he will go thru that stage. I feel so bad since this is our first dog in our familiy. Please advise!!!! |

YorkieTalk Newbie! | My two year old yorkie barely eats and that's killing me. His previous owners told me he had been fed blue buffalo which I kept but he just doesn't eat. I was suggested to sprinkle parmesan cheese which yesterday he ate both times I fed him which made me really excited but today he just refuse to eat period. I don't know what to do anymore. |
