Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Missy doesn't want to eat her food... I'm concerend because Missy hasn't wanted to eat her food since her foster sister got adopted. She is currently in Innova puppy food. I tried different foods (Lotus, Wellness, etc...) but she didn't like any of them. I tried raw food patties and she LOVED them. I talked to my vet and he said not to feed her RAW. He recommended mixing Gerber baby turkey flavor or chicken flavor to the Innova to get her interested in it again. Do you guys have any suggestions?

| Try adding some wet dog food to her kibble. Or some chicken broth. Kimchee gets tired of her food real quick too |

| When Magnus stopped eating his regular food, I gave him some boiled chicken/rice. Once I knew there wasn't anything physically wrong with him, I started mixing his regular food back and after couple days, he was back on his kibbles. Good luck! |

| Kaji did this to me once. I thought he was sick, it turns out he just wanted my food. I had to wait him out and he started eating again. He would go over to my roomie's dog's food bowl. They were on the same food! In my case it was "the grass is greener on the other side" type of thing. He did pick up a weird habit from that, he mostly eats when he's playing. He'll wait until I start throwing the tennis ball to decide to "carbo load" or whatever he's thinking.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Thank you guys for the great advice! The vet said she'll eat when she's hungry. That there is no way she'll starve with food around. Just like you guys said to mix her food with stuff like boiled chicken and rice. She's a smartie though. She'll eat around the kibble and just eat the chicken and rice.

| My breeder told me if ever a dog is sick and you try chicken and rice on them if they won't eat anything else you know they are really sick if they don't eat that! And sure enough it's the truth! The only time I've heard you really need to be concerned is when they are pups because their blood sugar can drop and then they can get into trouble! Your baby is most likely just trying to work you for the food they want (which mine tend to do fur and skin) and just like the vet and pediatrician say they will eat when they get hungry enough!! |

| Dogs eat by smell which is the reason that canned food works so well when they are refusing to eat~it has a very strong smell. My suggestion would be to try to sprinkle a little Parmesan cheese on the food to see if this will stimulate interest in the food. If you begin feeding chicken and rice too often this will just encourage the picky eating. Also cut out the treats that you are feeding. You might not even realize that you are giving treats to excess but Yorkies do not need much food and just a few treats will be enough to discourage eating of kibble.
