| Packaged Bully sticks smell like dead carcass!!!??? Just bought Betty Boop a package of 3 bully sticks at Petco today. I cannot believe how stinky they smell. Is this normal? They literally smell like road kill that dogs like to roll in!!! YUK! I smelled of the UN-packaged ones that were the large size and they didn't smell bad. I'm letting them air out inside the garage because they were smelling up my kitchen!

| I've tried many brands of bully sticks and I can't stand the smell of any of them. Try Mericks Wishbones or Texas toothpicks. Wishbones don't last as long, but there is hardly any smell. Toothpicks have zero smell, but don't last long at all, but they are less than $1 each, and last for a few days so I think they are worth it.

☺Farrah☺ Donating Member | I too purchased smelly bullies. I believe it is a flavoring. But a YTer told me about another YT member that sells non-smelly bully sticks. Their user name is AMD. She currently is out of stock of any bullies. Good luck getting some in the future. Also, I only give the smelly ones on the day she is going to have a bath. LOL

| I ordered bullysticks on ebay once.... they were HORRIBLE! I now get Jackson the 12 inch bully sticks from Pet Valu here locally... they have a "scent" for sure but it's not sickening and it only smells a bit while he's actually chewing it. It doesn't leave a mess on my floor, or on his beard, or anything, so I like them. AMD here on YT sells them too and they don't smell at all.

| That's exactly what I thought when I smelled my first bully stick. Even though the unwrapped might smell less strong, please don't buy those. They can get covered in bacteria that might make your pup ill. Now, I only buy my bully sticks from YT member AMD. They don't smell & they're very reasonably priced. My gang actually likes these a lot better than the stinky ones. I think she may be out of stock right now but it's definitely worth it to keep checking her website, www.westbrookdog.com.

| I guess I am the only one who think those smell too.

| Hey guys, thanks for all the input and suggestions. I'm taking those $10 bully sticks right back to Petco tomorrow!! I'll give AMD's sticks a chance. I'll also try the Merrick's Wishbones and Texas Toothpicks. I shouldn't have to ask this because I'm from Texas, but who sells Texas Toothpicks???? PetSmart/Petco??? BTW, I've ordered the Madan pinbrush today!!

| I get mine at our local feed store. They have a wide variety of different things. Mostly, it is the same thing as a bully stick just cut differently. I can't remember, but I think they are red barn something. They don't smell bad, but a few weeks ago I did pick up some at PETCO and I will not buy those again. I agree, they smelled terrible!!!!

| I used to buy Merrick's bully sticks for Kacee and they didn't have that awful smell. Cha-Cha, I did buy some of the Red Barn brand a month or so ago to see if she'd like to chew on them again, but they smelled so bad I gagged and threw them out. They actually smelled like a dead carcass. Gagging just thinking about them...

| I think it was Petsmart where I ordered the Red Barn. I'm serious when I say I gagged. It was the most horrible smell. I'm going to order some Merrick's again but I don't think she'll really chew on them anymore. She was never that much of a chewer except when she was teething. I was just hoping she would so it would keep her busy for awhile.

| I bought Bailey's bully sticks from AMD, they do have a smell, and I really hate it when Bailey purposely drops his bully on my face!..but he loves them and the smell is only bad if it's right under your nose I am waiting for AMD to get more stock in so I can buy more
