| Prey Model feeding during pregnancy ? Ok so Astra is expecting and that will be our first litter since we switch to Prey model feeding. Should I feed her the same menu as usual and just increase her portions? But maybe that would be to much bones and I worry about the calcium. So maybe I should increase everything except for the bones portions? Or should I feed her the same as usual plus an extra meal of red meat? |

| ETA: I found this Yahoo Group that might be helpful! http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/rawbreeder/ Ya know, I'm not sure! I've never bred so I don't have experience with pregnant dogs. I'll do some searching around on my raw resources. BUMP!

I did a lot of research this weekend about it too. Most breeder offer same food as usual during pregnancy and let their expecting females decided for themselves what they wan to eat and not eat. Females usually became very picky eater during pregnancy. Nature know best... Who can argue with that. Also, it look like many breeders notice that their female refused bones in the last week or two and that they eat mostly organs and meat organs. I am going to gave Astra a little more red meat than usual but that's all. And the only treat she'll get is a little bits of carrots and other veggies (puree). | |

| Astra is now on her 27 day and just refused her chicken bones. I feel like it is too early for her to cut off the calcium... She eat a little chicken meat and went crazy for the chicken heart/gizzard. I am going to offer her a can of salmon (with bones) later. If she refused it, Should a ground and gave her some eggshell with her next meal? Or should I stick with me first idea.. nature know best. |
