| Why Won't Eat His Food From The Bowl Anymore? Hi everyone. I'm a 'fairly' new Yorkie mommy (only have my baby in November). I hope someone will be able to help me. I recently switched Sandy's food to Acana Grasslands. He was on Royal Canin before. He's eating the Acana kibbles only if I put them on a saucer. When they're in his bowl, he'll go and sniff his food, then walks away! He seems to enjoy his new food because he'll lick the saucer clean everytime. I tried to mix his old kibbles with the new ones but nothing worked. I also notice he's pooping 3x a day instead of 2x but his poo looks normal and not as stinky as it was when he's on RC. I think it's because he eats too much? TIA. |

It's funny that your boy wants the new food on a saucer. Nothing to worry about, though. As for the pooping, probably the change in food, digests a little differently. My pups habits changed with changes in food and age. | |

| I'm actually going to try that saucer idea for my 3-year old pup. Both my dogs are on Acana, and Nala still poops 3 times a day even though she's usually only feed 2 times a day. |

| is there a lot of grains in the food as grains produce more stool mine do not like eating out of the bowl either so i put on saucer and my maltese will only eat on paper plate - the noise of food banging in bowl scares them as they jump back when in bowl so we switched to ceramic or glass plates when we feed and demi gets fed on a paper plate |

| Thanks everyone for the reply I'm not worried he's not eating his food out of the bowl anymore. He eats his yoghurt and veggies from the saucer. I guess he prefers food on the saucer than the bowl. |

| Well I feel much better after reading this thread. I thought it was just my crazy dog. Duke started this about a month ago. I loves to smack the bowl around the kitchen like hockey until he knocks the food on the floor then he eats it. I was thinking of getting him a plate as I refuse to dump food on the floor!! They really are crazy little dogs, but we love them to death!!

| I have a senior Maltese that won't eat out of a bowl or plate. I have to put her kibble on a piece of waxed paper. Sometimes she just looks at it like she wants to eat it, but just won't do it, and she looks at me and begs for me to do something to "fix it," and won't eat it while the waxed paper/kibble is on the floor. I then move the paper/food to the sofa, and she will eat it. Whatever it takes to get her to eat -- she is such a picky, light eater -- I just want to get her to eat SOMETHING. I am so glad that my Yorkie pup is a good eater. I don't know what I would do with two picky ones.

Snickers will only eat his food out of a stainless steel saucer as well. Also, he will only eat on carpet. He will take things from me from the kitchen (fruit etc) and go to a carpeted area to eat it. Also with the Acana...I break it up with a nutcracker b/c the disks are too big for Snick's lil mouth. He loves his Acana and I'm thrilled I don't have a picky eater anymore after switching him to it. Smiles- Snick & Viv
