| Constipation Were having problems with Wookies pooping habits. He is straining very hard and is forced to walk around in circles for almost 60 seconds only to poop out this tiny little nugget. My vet said his poo does seem really small, but its not hard. He usually poops twice a day and we feed him an eighth of a cup twice daily. Twice he hasnt pooped at night and only pooped one little nugget that morning and doesnt poop again until the next morning. He didnt gain any weight from his last appointment about 2 and half weeks ago. Im wondering if I am not feeding him enough so thats why he isnt pooping enough? Ive started feeding him an eight in the AM and a fourth at night. My vet also suggested canned pumpkin, because were feeding him Royal Canin Mini Puppy dry. She said it was a very good food. Any suggestions?

| Oh oops lol, but not he isn't skinny or bony. The vet probably would've been concerned if he was. But apparently he's at a perfect weight.

| do the pumpkin it will work but i would have your yorkie bile acid tested at some point as i have 3 dogs and 2 are perfect poop right after eating twice a day as i feed twice a day. Mine are 7lbs and they get 1/4 in am and 1/4 in pm so i think you are feeding enough as well as the dog food bags show to feed too much and why many dogs are over weight per our vet. My 10lb yorkie gets 1/3 in am and 1/4 in pm better to feed the higher amount in am and lower amt in pm. The reason i say to get bile acid is what you are describing by small poops is what my mvd dog does she is not constipated BUT she has pellet poops - with liver issues which run in this breed they cannot process waste the way a normal liver functioning dog can so i think you need to have pre and post bile acid testing done and our vet feels all yorkies and maltese should have this done so if you have not neutered then do this before and do a full cbc panel as well at same time and have urine tested by free catch for urinalysis just to be safe |

| Well I think he had the test done with his breeder. I have a bunch of health certification papers from his testings. He goes back to the vet next weekend for his Rabies shot. I will ask the vet about the test then. I tried feeding him 1/8 in the AM and 1/4 in the evening. But this just causes him to poop randomly in the afternoon which is throwing us off. It's so sad watching him lol He walks around for nearly a minute.
