| Breathing Problems My 12 year old male Yorkie has trachea collapse. Anybody else have the same situation? Is surgery the only cure? Thanks. Bill from Vermont |

| Are you talking about just the reverse sneezing, or something worse than that? Joey does the whole reverse sneezing thing a lot...he just has to calm down and it stops. I hope your little one doesn't need surgery - no good! Also, sorry I didn't really answer your question...I was more curious than anything

| breathing problems I am new to this site and found it searching for info on breathing problems in Yorkies. My special girl was 10 yrs old and ended up in the emergency vet hospital on oxygen. They treated her for a upper respiratory infection and the thoracic ultrasound showed she had a collapsed mainstem bronchus. From all my research it did not look good, especially with her age. The cartiledge breaks down as they age and can be minimally managed with medication. The surgery option is risky (only my non-medical opinion) I lost my special girl after 2 months of treating her for her respiratory problems. I wish you luck with your yorkie. |
