Hi,

I have an 8 1/2 month old yorkie who came into heat a month ago. Because I have both a male and female I separated them at the first sign. He has since been neutered, about a week ago, and is doing fine.

The female has developed raised nipples. There are pink in color and are slightly swollen. Is this common when they are in heat? I don't see how she could have gotten pregnant when I separated them at the beginning. Could this maybe be a false pregnancy? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Could be??? You will know soon enough though, Are you sure they never had an opportunity?

If you are absolutely sure they never got together, I would think it is just part of the heat cycle. Like when your breasts get sore during your period.

I have females that their nipples did not swell even when they were pregnant, until just before they delivered.
