Brushing Teeth with Toothpaste? I brush Trixie's teeth every night. The breeder only used water, so I've been doing that as well. Are you using any toothpaste for dogs? And which brand is good?

First, congratulations on developing the brushing habit. Not only will it save you tons of money on vet cleanings, but it'll keep her breath fresh and her gums healthy. As far as I'm concerned, the brushing action or mechanical action is the most valuable part of the exercise. That's what keeps the plaque under control. I have one heck of a time getting them to accept the toothbrush, so my secret weapon is the poultry flavored toothpaste. They love it and will tolerate the brushing to get the toothpaste. It supposedly has enzyme action, but honestly, I don't use it for that reason. Keep up the good work! CJ

I brush Ruby's teeth every time i give her a bath (once a week). I have a doggy toothbrush and she uses Hartz Dental Beef flavoured toothpaste.
