| Drinking less/peeing less since starting raw Franklin and Maggie have been on raw (prey model) for about a week now and I've noticed that they have been drinking less water. Maggie seems to be peeing normally but Franklin has been peeing less frequently. He normally pees every 3-5 hours but last night he went about 8 (maybe more?) before peeing. Should I be concerned? They've been eating ground turkey, chicken drumsticks and chicken wings if that's relevant.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I can see why they would need to drink less because the raw has plenty of water in it, but I'm not sure why they need to pee less, maybe his bladder is just naturally growing and stretching a little? Or maybe he was overdrinking water before, and now he doesn't feel the need. Kidneys may not to have to work as hard, but I'm not sure if this would result in reduced urine output. I think this is usually a good sign, not a bad sign.

| I'm glad you posted this, because Apple isn't drinking as much water as she used to, since being on raw, and I was a little concerned...Also, I figured, since it's not as hot as it has been, that might be why too...She seems to be doing well, so I guess there's nothing to worry about... |

| Kibble is about 10% moisture and raw is 60-70% moisture, so it is very normal for them to drink less. Peeing less is different but maybe they are getting a bit less water through their diet then they were from drinking before and are satisfied enough not to drink.
