| My Yorkie's butt is sore from all that pooping So my yorkie had really bad diarrhea this past week. I took him to the vet and she gave me some meds for him. His diarrhea seems to have gone away. His poop is getting firmer and he hasn't had any recent "explosions." Anyways, now he's constantly licking his butt. I think it's irritated due to the number of times he's had to poop. Just this am, when I took him out to do his business, he let out a sharp cry as he pooped. Is there some sort of cream or topical ointment that I can put in that area? Have any of your furbabies had this?

| Try vasoline. It won't harm him if he does lick it. Also, keep canned pumpkin in the house in case there's a next time. It works great for the diahreaha. Poor baby. |

| Someone suggested before to make icecubes out of the canned pumpkin for emergencies and I thought it was a great idea! Use a few and save them for the next time. Not sure about the sore butt Give your vet a call and ask what they might recommend.

| Thanks for the helpful tip everyone! I just called my vet and she said that it's normal for his butt to be irritated. She said to give it a few days. She told me to put a warm wet towel on his butt to help relieve the irritation. If the problem still persists then to bring him in. Hopefully it gets better soon.

| awwwwwwww...poor baby...I'd definitely put just a tiny bit of vaseline on his bottom right before you take him out to do his poopies...It will protect his bottom, while he does his business, and there shouldn't be much left to lick off afterwards... |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Aw, poor punkin! You can put diaper cream or hydrocortisone cream on there, or perhaps even try some aloe gel.
