| How common is it for a dog to throw up? Sadie threw up in her crate last night, it only happened once and was a little tiny bit of foam. Is this somewhat normal for a puppy to do or something to worry about? |

| if it is foam it is bile. This means her tummy is empty and that is why she is throwing up. Layla used to do this nightly. now we give her a snack right before bed (around 10, 10:30) of pure plain yogurt and baby food fruit. This gives her just a bit of something in her tummy and keeps her from throwing up. |

If you think it's happening even after she eats, then it could be something else. One time wouldn't concern me unlesss it's a very young pup. If it happens often, there may be another reason for it.

| i'll try that tonight and see if that makes her feel better, she's never done that at night before, but last Monday she got sick four times and then was fine afterwards. that time i believe was because she tried to eat a daddy long legs and they are known to spray a stinky smell to avoid getting eaten, she reacted like it got her, then she tried to get it off her face and then threw up four times i was scared to death, but she napped and acted fine and after the fourth throw up she stopped gagging and was fine and she ate supper that night and hasn't had anything happen until last night. i think she's okay, just worries me a lot and she did just have her flea and tick meds yesterday which were changed to Vectra 3D or First Shield Trio (same thing) i have another thread about this med, i'm not sure of it yet, but i called the ER vet tonight just to check and she said that it's a highly recommended flea and tick med. and that the throwing up as long as she's eating and drinking and acting herself she's ok |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Mine will occassionally throw up for no apparent reason, when they were puppies if their tummies were empty they would throw up yellow bile, so they still get a snack before bed. I know some dogs can have a reaction to flea and tick meds. Hope Sadie feels better.

| also i wanted to add, she's been really stinking up the place while sleeping today, i've noticed some really ranchy smells that i can only assume are SBD toots. i hope her tummy isn't upset, i haven't really given her anything out of the ordinary, i did give her a new dog treat yesterday, only half of it, and she ate a little bully stick piece or two today...she can finally get them apart. i dunno but she's sleeping peacefully on my lap, has been a little sleepier today than i'm used to, but then again she's done her share of chewing/playing too, and she did just have a warm bath and is in her sweater so she's extra sleepy and i've been extra lazy today so maybe that's just adding to her tiredness??! i think she's ok, i just worry a lot and get very very nervous about EVERYTHING |

Is your pup's food fish based/ That could be causing the bad gas- Layla had AWFUL gas on a fish based food. I know a warm bath and a warm sweater would make me sleepy Layla is always more cuddly when she has clothes on- so i'm sure that is the case for your pup too.

| It sounded like she threw up one time after being crated for awhile from your original post. If she threw up four times in a row and has gas, it is probably a different problem entirely.

she's on a homemade raw diet, but i did give a new treat the other day when this all happened. i won't give that one again. she does have bully sticks and can actually eat them now, so it might be that too for the gas. she also didn't poop yesterday, so i might have to go get pumpkin today

that's what happened on Friday night, it was Monday that she threw up four times and was fine until Friday. and the gas i don't think is related, it might be the bully sticks or this new treat i tried to give her. also, i gave a bath last night so i think she's feeling better with that oily feeling on her coat. like i said, i'm more worried about the pooping now and if i don't get results i a bit i'm going out for some pumpkin. any particular brand a good choice?
