| When to regulate feeding My baby Roxy is almost 5 months old and weight 2.6 lbs.I am wanting to begin regulating her feeding. Up until this point she has been able to free feed but recently she has been pooping a lot and pooping everywhere (but thats another story altogether). We are having to go back to ground zero with potty training and regulating her feeding will help a lot. Is it ok to regulate her feeding now? How often should I feed her? How much should I feed her?

| wow That seems like alot. Coral gets about 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup a day. I feed her twice a day (1/4 c or so each feeding). She is almost 9 months now and she has been eating this way for several months. She gobbles it all down at once because she knows the big dogs will eat what she leaves.

| Eva is just 4 months now and she eats three times a day. 7:30 am. 1:30 pm and 6:30 pm. She gets Orijen grainless food and it is less than a 1/3 of a cup each meal. She gets 15 mins to eat and if she walks away and goes to play I remove the food. If she eats it all and looks for more I will give a bit more but only right away not if it is 1/2 later or something. Then i just distract her with play. She poops like clockwork because of this. Three times day, morning midafternoon and about 7:30 pm. She does get little treats for reward through out the day and a pea size glob of puppy boost each day as a reward as well. So far this seems to be working for us. Can't wait for when we can have her down to two meals and two poops, but we are a long way from that at this point.

| Holy Pooper Batman....that's a lot of food for a little 2 pound peanut. My porkie yorkie is 13 pounds and only eats a cup a day. Wellness - 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 at night with an occasional carrot or fruit for a treat at lunch time. He's going to be 1 year in Sept. I agree with the other poster - good food...maybe too much. Good Luck. |
