| For dogs that eat poop!! I learned on "It's me or the dog" last night that for doggies that eat their own poop or others poop, feed the pooper some pineapple and it will make the poop taste terrible to the dog. Just thought i'd pass that along if you have trouble with a poop eater. Other advice, feed a well balanced diet that has high fiber and don't feed the cheap stuff that comes out smelling and tasting the same as what went it. Also, make sure the dog eats meals slowly enough to get all the nourishment and process the food through his body better so that it doesn't come out the same as it went in and it doesn't leave him needing more nourishment. Hope this tidbit of advice is helpful!! |

| I finally figured out that Rocky is not really eating poop, but he is playing with it. He breaks up a "tootsie roll" into lots of little pieces and scatters them around. So, I have been doing constant checks on the pads, to make sure I am quick to remove them before he gets to them. He likes to wait til I am either gone or asleep though and still gets them occasionally. He has also snuck one in when we come in from outside! It is the first time I have had one that messes with droppings. Very gross habit! Mine are on high quality food, get to free feed so no one is in a hurry or going without as much as they want. So, I don't think that enters into it for us. I had forgotten about the pineapple idea and will give it a try. Problem is, I will have to get all of mine to eat the pineapple. Not sure that will work. Rocky will eat anything if I do, but the rest are a little more picky. I think Rocky just likes to give me a challenge. The others were so easy when compared to him. But in return he is also the sweetest puppy ever. They are all loving, but he is like a little human baby the way he likes to cuddle! So, he is definately worth the extra hassle. Sometimes he just has to wait a while for kisses. Momma don't like poop breath!

| This one made me laugh so hard! He breaks up a "tootsie roll" into lots of little pieces and scatters them around. Quote:

| We haven't tried pineapple for this, but definitely will as my girls love to be poop eaters!!!! They are on high quality food, though only two meals a day with quality treats inbetween. I think they just like the super fresh warm stuff!!!

| Love the "tootsy roll" comment...ahahaha, hilarious. Sushi doesn't eat her own poo, but she is just obcessed with CAT POO!!!!! The vet gave me this powder to put in the cat food, which supposedly makes the poo taste bad (as if it doesn't taste bad without the powder!!!!) without changing the taste of the food for the cats. and you are supposed to do in for a period of 7 days at a time i think. I tried it twice (two full one-week periods) and it didn't work. she just waits until the poop goes back to normal then she goes back in!!!! So now I just keep an eye on the litterbox, and make sure she has no access to it when I'm not home!

Thor's Human Donating Member | I think all dogs love cat poop, because cats eat a much higher protein diet. I'm very thankful Thor doesn't have this habit. I guess sometimes it's good to have a picky eater. For the poop eaters out there, have any of you tried to train them out of the behavior? Teach them to always Leave It, or something like that?

| I forget what it was called. It was a white powder that came in individual packets.
