Update on Bella and Bear:let me recap first(11 weeks breeder had them on Puppy chow, tried to gradually switch to California Natural, terrible diarrea, vet put them on rice and chicken Which helped with the runs, I gradually added CN back in 5-10 pieces and the runs are back...VET told me to switch to science diet. I know this is bad (first ingred. is corn) ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS HAPPEN???WHAT FOOD IS EASIEST ON THEIR LITTLE BELLIES? They gained 1 # in one week....they love the people food but I prefer not to continue with that. HELP!!!

I use Life's Abundance on all my puppies. No diarrhea ever. I also have switched adults over on the food cold turkey and had no issues with it. Its a high quality premium health food. There is info on LA in my signature. Its worked the best for me.

Just a quick question. Why don't you want them eating "real" food? It's the safest, healthiest and you know exactly what they are eating. When any type of food gives them diarrhea, then it's obvious it's not good for them.

It's not that Im against the real food, I will be giving them some because they love it. I would like to have some dry food available to them to nibble on...I work during the day and it is easier for me to have some kibbles down if they get hungry.

Taz has had loose stools and TERRIBLE gas with most foods he has tried. We're using Blue now and he seems to like it and he's had no tummy trouble on it.

When I first got Sasha, I wasn't aware of the different qualities of food that were available. She came to me on Purina Pro Plan and I kept her on that until she was about 5 or 6 months old. Then someone recommended Nutro Natural Choice to me which I switched her to and kept her on that until she turned 1. That's when I began doing more research and learned Nutro wasn't all that great and began looking into the higher quality foods instead. I don't know how Sasha would've reacted had I changed her food earlier when she was much younger than 5 months. I've always done the transition in a very slow process though as I've always heard that yorkies tend to have sensitive tummies. Now as an adult, she doesn't have any problems with new foods and I barely have to transition her if I happen to change her food.

It could be that your babies just don't agree with the CN. You may want to look into a different food. I've heard good things about Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul. Solid Gold is also a very good food. I had Sasha on that for awhile and she did amazing on it. As they get older, you can look into a grain-free, high protein food such as EVO, Orijen or Taste of the Wild. It seems like your babies may be sensitive to food changes so just make sure to make the transitions slowly so they arn't affected. Good luck!

Here is also something to consider. you can't just start a dog on another food. They will get the runs. Little one can easily have digestive upsets. The food must be changed very very slowly. Like 1/4 new to 3/4 old for about 3-4 days. Then 1/2 new to 1/2 old. Same thing...3-4 days. Then 1/4 old to 3/4 new for 3-4 days. Then 100 percent new food. Quick food changes are a sure shot for super lose stools

I actually bought Chicken soup tonight and added 1 tablespoon to their chiken and rice. They loved it! Hopefully their tummies will as well, I'll keep you all posted Thanks so much!

Kimbo is 13 weeks old and we just made a successful switch from the breeder's Nutro Ultra Hollistic Puppy to Innova Puppy. It was a 7 day transition. The bag said to make the transition 7-10 days long. On day 8 we were completely switched over. I was so paraniod about it, that I literally counted out the kibbles and divided them evenly over that week, adding more each day. I buy Innova Puppy at specialty shops or on the web. It has been very easy on his belly.
