| Help.........fleas!!!!!! OMG!! Lucy has fleas!! And a SERIOUS case of them! We went to visit my cousin in the country over the 4th and she has a tons of dogs, so I have been watching closely for ticks and fleas. I found a tick on Lucy Monday and pulled it out; seemded to go well. I found a flea on her and killed it to. Well, we traveled home and yesterday she looked pretty good. I admit, I did not check her bedding until this morning and there are fleas everywhere! I just put al of her stuff in hot bleach and deteregent in the washer, quarantined her and the other dog outside and now need to know what to do next!! I'm certain they both will need a flea dip, but do I take them to a vet or can I do this at home? What do I use? I'm totally freaking out right now... I NEED HELP ASAP!!!!!!!!! ACKKKKKK!!!!!

| Bathe her with dawn detergent. Put a ring of it around her neck area them wash the rest of her with it. Leave it on for 5 mins before rinsing. It will kill the fleas that are on her but it wont keep more from getting on her outside so youll have to follow up with a flea preventative like advantage

| There is also a flea pill you can get that kills all of them on the pet instantly, like in 20 minutes. Then of course use your preventative topicals. I'm using Advantage Multi that has the heart worm medication in it. Good luck!

| If you want something quick wash her in dawn dish soap.... it kills fleas..it suffocates them use a flea comb to get them all off. and I found this website DOG TRICKS, TIPS AND INSIGHTS , Cure and Prevent Fleas Naturally, avoid toxic chemicals, & save money & the environment.

| I just went through this, because I live in S.E.Texas and it didn't rain for two months and the fleas went wild in the backyard; I think they were thirsty, because they were attacking me too But good news, it did rain yesterday and today....However, right before the rain, I treated the yard, put frontline plus on Apple, and borax on the carpet....Apple doesn't go on the carpet in the hall and bedrooms...She's in the living room/dining room/kitchen and hall w/tile and wood...Thank goodness, I believe we've got it under control...Man, it was a mission to be sure!!!!...BTW, I also vacuumed her bed (there is borax in the vacuum cleaner bag to kill the fleas)...People up North just don't know what we go through down here in the South |

| Fiona has fleas again this year too! I'm so frustrated because i put her frontline plus on her june 1st, thinking i'd be ahead of the game, and low and behold she had them everywhere! i put borax down on the carpet yesterday, and i have shaved her down some, so that should help. i got frontline top spot and applied it yesterday and they are already dying off of her! good luck to you all with fleas, they are soooo annoying, i feel your pain!

| Dara311, thank you. The Frontline has worked very well. Now she has really runny poop and I'm now trying to find out if it could be a side effect of the medicine. Geesh, it's always something....

| see if you can find Tropiclean NEEM shampoo (or really any shampoo for that matter) and Tropiclean NEEM Dip. Bathe her in the shampoo and let it soak for about 3-5 minutes. Be very careful around her eyes, but you need to bathe her entire body and head. Fleas like to run straight for the head when that shampoo hits their body and unless you get them all, it's useless. Rinse the shampoo away and apply the DIP. It is formulated to stay on the dog, so let her dry naturally. You really should bomb your house as well while they are outside and while you are doing this. Maybe take a little drive with them to pass the time once they've been bathed. Good luck! Unfortuantely, it is THAT time of year! Ugh, bugs!
