| Anyone make their own dog food since... the first day you brought him or her home?? We want to do that as we are NOT fond of the dog foods out there. What did you do?? Did you freeze it? make it fresh? which recipe did you use?

| i haven't home cooked for milu because i am not a good cook. and she is very picky, so she might hurt my feelings if i cook for her. but just want to let you know that if you do choose to home cook, you will need to get supplements for your dog. have you tried raw diet for your dog? there ARE some good kibbles out there, but i think raw is better.

| I home cook for Layla- however home cooking for a full grown adult dog is VERY different than cooking for a puppy since puppies have very different nutritional needs. I spoke to a nutritionist, which is what i recommend you do. She wil need to calculate the appropriate K/cals per day as well as the appropriate supplements and the calcium/phosporus ratio which is BEYOND important for a growing puppy. Susan Davis (askariel.com) has been used by MANY yorkie talkers and i think she is just great- she came up with Layla's home cooked diet and we just can't say enough about her! |

| We homecooked for Ellie since the recall of 2007. I talked to a nutritionist about it but have since stopped because Ellie needs to be on a prescription diet right now. It isn't working though, so I'm sure I'll be cooking up a storm again soon.

| I home cook for both of mine. However, I only discovered that kibble was not as good as I thought this year, so Cash was raised on Science Plan and Royal Canin. When I discovered that RC only gets 2 stars and I pay my *&@ off for it, I decided to home cook. I did my research and now simply brown mince and small pieces of chicken, add the rice, water, stock, loads of different veggies and cook. When it is almost done, I just add some fresh mint and parsley. I freeze all of it and it lasts me about two weeks. It is a bit more of a commitment than feeding kibble, but also a lot cheaper. And their breath smell great!

| If you look at the top of "Yorkie Health & Diet", you will see a sticky for "Homemade Yorkie Recipes." There are many recipes there. Also, Dr. Pitcairn's "Natural Health for Dogs & Cats" is a very good resource.
