Those who feed prey model raw and doing #2? For those who feed a pre model diet. I just got my puppy 3 weeks ago. He has been doing great on NV medallions but I wanted to start a pre model diet. I started to feed him chicken wings 2 days ago and he lovesssss it. But today He did not do #2 the whole day and only did a little bit at night. When I was feeding just the NV medallion he would go 2 to 3 times a day. Could this change be the raw chicken? he east the meat and a little of the bone. Is this normal that he only goes once a day and very little. He is 13 weeks this week. the #2 was not hard or anything. I am sorry if it was too much information but I was worried that he would not do #2 any advise on this? Thanks everyone

It is typical to have less stools on a PMR diet. Before I switched Zoe, she always pooped twice a day but once I switched she doesn't even usually go once a day. More like maybe once, then maybe skip a day. I wouldn't be too worried however, I would also warn you that chicken wings are WAY too much bone. If you feed a chicken wing one day, I would feed a boneless meal for a day or two after that. Also, you could try adding a little bit of liver on the day you feed the chicken wing. Hope that helps!

Thank you so much for your reply. I am actually doing a medallion a day and at night the chicken wing. He does not eat all the bone just some, But he loves to chew on it and he loves the meat in the wing.. I am still doing the medallion because I don't know how much variety I can add to him. I checked yesterday and not all his teeth are out they are almost all out but not quite yet. I am feeding the medallions as well so that he gets all the variety he needs for now. But I wanted to stick to chicken and try another part of the chicken as well meat further along like 3 weeks from now to make sure he is ok with the chicken. So that when I do feed him all prey model he will at least know what do to with the bone ect. I am so new at feeding raw. I am hope I am doing it right so far lol thanks Last edited by mily; 05-28-2009 at 07:30 PM. Reason: Ps he is 13 weeks and only weighs 1 lbs 9 oz.

Yes, the stool sounds normal. If it gets white and chalky, that would be too much bone. If you do give liver a bit later in the course of things... just give a very teeny, tiny amount or he may get really runny poo. Their bodies do not utilize alot of the things in other diets... hence more poo. Yes, there is no need to hurry onto another meat. Chicken breast is good too, for starting on because it has more meat and the bone is easy to chew. Congrats on the new pup!

Thank you for your reply. That makes me feel better. I was used to him going 2 times with the nv medallions only and when he went almost the whole day today without doing #2 I got worried. He ate not the whole medallion today he left a little piece and then I fed him the chicken wing. He is to tiny lol My family and I love him so much. It is really cool to also see such a tiny thing eat a chicken wing. It was amazing to watch and he lovessssssssss it. and I know this is the best for him.
