Hello Everyone. This is my first posting!

My pup has had a uti and is suspect to having stones. She will not eat the w/d diet my vet recommends, what should I be feeding her?

I'm guessing that the vet was aiming at high fiber content with the w/d... if that's the case, then there are other high-fiber prescription diets out there. Both Royal Canin and Purina have prescription lines that make high fiber diets. Maybe you could talk to the vet about trying one of those instead to see if it is more palatable? I'm not a big fan of Hill's, to be really honest. The clinic that I work at doesn't even carry their diets due to the amount of by-products and fillers in the food and the preservatives that they use.

If none of the prescription diets work, you could always try speaking to a nutritionist about home-cooking for your dog.

Just make sure you get the okay from your vet or a veterinary nutritionist for an alternate diet. Stones aren't something you want to run risks with.

I am more interested in what folks with Yorkie expertise have to say. I am not taking any advice from Midtown Animal Hospital on 33rd Street in New York City. Vet is an uberexpensive, uncaring @ nasty man
, who has taken me for a fool for the last time.

Make sure you ease your baby into the new food if she has been on another diet. Switching foods suddenly can make them have digestion problems I've heard.

Find a new vet then that you are comfortable with, but don't just take nutrition advice from the internet. You need to have someone who knows your dog and has analyzed its particular needs. A lot of the diets recommended online are great for healthy dogs, but dogs with serious medical conditions do often need something other than regular dog food.
