| Update on Bella's Leg We just returned from the vet and it turns out that Bella has LP in both of her knees. According to the new vet that we visited, it was a genetic condition caused by too shallow of a grove for her knee cap. She has grade 1 in her right hind leg and grade 2 in her left hind leg. I am shocked by this considering that she was checked when she was younger and she had no signs of problems and she has never exhibited any problems. The vet showed me how to manually rotate her little knee into place, which is going to be very hard for me to do because I hate to see her in plain. She was also proscribed two medications and we will be checking in with the doctor on Friday to chart her progress. I am very sad that she has LP, but I am slightly relived that it has not progressed into anything more severe. And the vet said that most of his patients that have had this condition have had their symptoms controlled without the use of surgery. Do any of you have babies that have a smiliar situation? Did they require surgery?

| I'm so sorry the news wasn't what you wanted to hear. But hopefully they'll be able to treat it without surgery and she'll be just fine. These little turds sure do pull on our heart strings!

| Bently has stage 2 in one of his back legs. I put him on a supplement I got that is a chew, since he disliked the liquid one put on his food, and he's doing great. I haven't seen him hopping for over 3 weeks now. I also increased his daily walks to 2 times per day and now walk him apprx. 1 mile in the afternoon and 1/2 mile in the morning. If I can remember the name of the supplement I'll email it to you. Good luck. John |

| Did the doctor recommend giving her a glucosamine supplement? A lot of us have had great success with our yorkies joint problems because of glucosamine. I'd recommend looking into Cosequin. I'm sorry the doctor didn't have better news for you.

| The supplement is zuke's hip action. Beef flavored. I think they also come in Chicken flavor. I give him 1 treat each day for lunch and he's doing great. The supplement isn't expensive as the liquid one was so I was able to save some money too. Good luck |

| Thank yo so much for your support. I asked the vet about the Cosequin and he said that it may be something to look into, but he didn't prescribe any during this visit. From researching on YT I discovered a ton of positive reviews for this product, and I plan to get her started on this too (along with some additional vitamin supplements).

| Can't offer any first hand experience, but want to pass on well wishes for your little Bella. I know many of the Yorkies here with LP are doing well. Sounds like you caught it early and with the right meds and attention, she should do fine. Praying she will be able to avoid surgery and be pain-free.
