| Baby with mange, I'm furious! I have a sweet little baby boy that I've had almost 3 weeks, we went to the vet today for his second set of shots. I told the vet he has been itching a lot for the last few days. He scraped his skin and found that he has sarcoptic mange. I am so mad, he had to come from the breeders this way. I'm gonna call her and see what she says. Just needed to tell somebody. Has anybody been through this before? Any side effects from the treatment? My vet gave him a shot this morning and said he will need another one in 2 weeks. He said that usually gets over 90% of the mites and we might have to get a third injection.

| My chachi had demodex mange. He had to have dips and be bathed with a medicated shampoo. I dont know about the treatment you are getting since its different than what chachi got. Once chachi went through the dips it cleared up. You have to be careful because you can get it too in the form of scabies

| AWww that's terrible! I hope the breeder at least reimburses you for the vet costs.

| I've had my Lacie for 4 weeks, and she arrived with the same condition from the breeder, also in TN! The vet gave us a dose of Revolution and the itching stopped in a couple of days. We will follow with another dose after a month. |

| My senior collie had a bought with demodetic mange when whe was 11. My understanding is that all dogs have these mites, it's just that normally you never seem them, they live down in the hair follicle. When the immune sytem of the dog is compromised, the mites can proliferate. It could be the stress of leaving home but I would be very concerned about this as it is sometimes a genetic problem and could be an ongoing thing. It is entirely possible the breeder did not know..... |

| My baby has Sarcoptic mange I'm furious!!! I got my baby girl one week ago and she has Sarcoptic mange... the breeder told me that she had been bit on the ear by her brother and that there was nothing to worry about... I feel like she knew all along UGGGGGHHHHH! There are some really messed up people in this world... all she had to do is be upfront with it, because now I'm all itchy too!! My Bella is getting the injections, but I can't get her to stop scratching and biting herself raw. Poor thing!! I just had to vent... I can't believe people!! |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | Sarcoptic mange is contagious to other animals and people so be very careful with her and what she touches. I would definitely call the breeder and ask for compensation for treatment. it may take a while to fully get rid of the mange. sarcoptic mange is gross and much worse then demodex mange.

| There are several types of mange. However, it sounds like the type your baby has was contracted from it's dam. It lays dormant and passed on to the pup. Your breeder may not have been aware of it, but if she'd had the pup vet checked, it would have been identified there and treated.
