| Thanks for asking. He's doing better. Poor baby is so tired of being in the crate. He is still hobbling on 3. He actually lightly touch the floor (for about 3 seconds, lol) with his leg that was operated on. The dr said it is not unusal for him to not use it for a couple of weeks. Hubby has been taking him out to potty--I am not that brave yet. I have him use the pad when I take him out because I just hold him the whole time.

I Love My Lil' Punkin's Donating Member | Girl, OMG...you know what is so odd...I didn't even know that Hot Rod needed LP surgery until I read some of your replies in Tatum's LP thread! I am just sitting here trying to think of how I DIDN'T know this??? Everything you typed in your very first post in this thread sounds exactly like Tatum's story. Her surgeon had to also deepen the groove in her knees. He was hoping that he wouldn't have to do this...but after seeing her x-rays and how terrible her little knees actually were (especially her left one), he knew that there was absolutely no option but to drill He also tightened her ligaments to help hold the patella's in place. Poor little Hot Rod. Poor little Tatum. Poor little Ranger!! OUR POOR BABIES!!!! My goodness. It is just like a CHAIN of them going through this right now. It totally breaks my heart that this is just sooooo common in the breed Why, why, WHY does it have to be this way? Has he been using his leg at all since the surgery? I don't know if you read my update that I did just a couple of hours ago on Tatum's LP thread, but BOY she REALLY surprized me today! She actually started using that left leg...and without a limp! I was utterly AMAZED. Today is the first day in I don't know HOW long that I have seen her walk normal on that leg. I mean it has REALLY been a long time. I was almost in tears because I was just soo happy and SO proud of her When she picks up speed (kind of trying to run sort of thing) she does still hold it completely up off the ground....but when she just walks normally she has been using it 100% and absolutely NO limping!! And it is only 5 days after surgery!! I am just sooo thrilled for her! Hopefully in a few months from now (or maybe even before then) she will also be able to use it fully when running. But we aren't sure....she may not....only time will tell. Give sweet, precious little Hot Rod lots of hugs and kisses from me and Tator Tot and tell him that we love him! I'm not at all happy that there are so many of us with babies that are going through this right now, but at least we can all be here for each other for support

I really didn't know that Hot Rod's knee had gotten as bad as it did. I took him in for a uti and mentioned to the vet that he wasn't wanting to go for his walks, which is not like him at all. Well, the vet took x-rays and referred us to the surgeon for a consult and the surgeon had an opening the very next day. Hubby and I had the weekend to discuss it prior to the consult. We talked about holding off-if it was an option, or if the surgery would be better now to prevent further damage, or if it was something that needed to be done right away. We both agreed that if it needed to be done then we would do it. It was just a matter of timing as to when to get it done, but since the surgeon had an opening, there really wasn't anything to think about. I am glad that I didn't have time to worry about the upcoming surgery-I would have stressed myself and Hot Rod out So little Tator and Hot Rod can mend together and be up and running around in no time! Hugs and kisses to little Tatum from Hot Rod and me!

| Poor Baby! he's in jail, *sigh* Poor Hot Rod, I feel so bad for him. and Maggie...she misses playing with her brother. Every morning she gets so excited to say good morning to him that she litterlay runs out of breath and starts panting to get out of the expen so give him kisses. Hot Rod is soooo ready to get out of his crate and play. Poor baby looked so pathetic the other night, he had his litte cute nose right in the corner of the crate looking at me. I melted and stopped whatever it was I was doing and took him out and held him. I couldn't resist that sweet little face. 5 more weeks of this. It is going to be a very, very long 5 weeks!

| Aww, they look so cute sunning together like that! Poor babies, they don't understand why they can't play together do they. I hope they don't think they're being punished. Hot Rod looks so handsome in his little nest, I just want to give him a big kiss! Thanks for keeping us updated. I'm so glad he's having a good recovery! {hugs}

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Hot Rod will be up and about in no time and acting like nothing ever happened. That is the the wonderful thing about dogs they bounce right back with love and attention after surgery. Hot Rod is so lucky to have you for his mommy.

| I am sorry that I have not commented so far. This thread must have gotten lost in the shuffle of the 39458498540 other ones that are coming up every day! I am so glad that your baby is finally home and on his way to recovery. I honestly canNOT imagine what you are going through. I know that this has got to be very stressful for you. We are so protective of our babies, aren't we? Thank you for sharing pictures. Lil Hot Rod just blesses my heart. I feel so sad for him and Maggie. I hope they don't feel as though they are being punished either! I always tell my husband I wish we could sit down our furbabies and talk to them like they are human beings... but I have to remind myself they are dogs so that they will understand the situation or will know/understand what is best for them. Hmm... Hot Rod is a looker though hehe and I swear in the last "jail pic" he is smiling. hehe (((big xoxo from Max and Molly)))

| Hey Bo! Now that we're back home and in recovery, I can finally pay attention to everyone else besides just myself!! It is SO GREAT to hear that Hot Rod is doing well. I know it sucks when they want out to play so badly, but it's even worse when they just feel bad. Ryder is in the "I want out!!" stage, but Ranger is happy to be in his crate. Please keep the updates coming, it is so nice to have a guideline as to what I should expect. Hot Rod looks back to his old happy self!!! Aren't you sooooo glad you got him fixed now? Thank you again for all the super sweet messages and PM's. I *really* needed them. And you were TOTALLY right! 90% of my anxiety about this ended when I picked him up. THANK YOU!
