| Hummmm. I have never heard of that. That is a long time. Was there problems during the spay? I had a pup that lost a leg and she was out running the next day. Can you call and verify that time? Just seems excessive. JMHO.......

They told me to put mine on a leash even to potty in the backyard, cause they will run around like crazy. Maya thought she was well and tried to tangle with Mika too early and there were many yelps of pain. But by the by, my Doc said 7 days, not 10. Good luck we're over ours now from two weeks ago, it's a pain.

| That sounds a little bit excessive to me. No running, jumping or playing for 7-10 days and if crating is the only way to stop it, then yes crate. I held Ellie quite a bit after her spay instead of confining her to an area. Yes, they can walk more than just to potty but I don't want to go against what your vet is saying because they are just trying to protect her. If something happens and the stitches underneath get ruined, they will have to open her up again, so that's the concern.

| Post spay surgery Mum...My vet kinda said the same thing...keep her quiete for 7-10 days. I had her sleep in a twin bed with me athat was against the wall and a pillow at the end for 2 nights. She slept in a baby onesie (my dog was 8 lbs at that time and wore a size 6-9 mos.). After that she did great. She never bothered her stitches (which were actually sewn inside (3 layers) and I truly believe the onesie was my life saver. I just tried to make sure she didn't jump on the furniture. I also made sure she stayed in her playpen for most of the day for about 2 days after that. Then, she was free. Her scar has healed wonderful and she's fine. I'm sure everything will be fine. You sound like a very carrying mom and that's what she'll need right now. Just think about how you would want to be taken care of and apply the same to her. Keep us posted on Misti' recovery period. | My vet had said not much activeness for 7-10 days. He didn't tell me to crate her for that time, but just to watch her carefully and no rough playing, only outside to potty etc. She was pretty laid back the day after, but by the 2nd day she was back to her normal self. It was pretty tough monitoring her and making sure she wasn't jumping around like she does now, but we managed and she healed wonderfully. |
