| How do I get her to CHEW her food? Ariel has always eaten her food without chewing much and it never posed a problem until recently. Every time I feed her, she barely chews on her food - she chews once, maybe twice, then swallows. Her meal is gone within a minute. After she's done, she gags a little and sometimes, she throws the food back up. I can still see the whole pieces of her food in the pile of puke. She's been doing with with her treats as well. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to get her to actually CHEW on her food? |

| What are you feeding? Some food is VERY hard and not easily chewed by little Yorkies...... There is a bowl that you can buy for "gobblers" that is suppose to help, too. (or I guess you could hand feed and see if it makes a difference before you spend $$ on a special bowl).

| Hi this works for both slow eaters and inhalers Milo used to take one piece of food out at a time move away from the bowl and then go back to the bowl. His sister on the other hand would be done before you put the food away. This is called an amaze a ball it is also used for treats but we use it for meals you place the total amount of dry kibble in the ball then they must move the ball with there nose or paws in order for the food to come out it only dispense a few pieces at a time so they tend to eat slower. I have found this to be the cheepest site to get this. Good Luck Amaze-a-Ball |

| Hello - Newbie to YT here, and I have the same problem with my little guy. I asked the vet about it and he told me that the problem is with the size of the kibble. I was feeding the little tiny bits and he would just swallow them. I switched him to a larger kibble and he chews a lot more. Not always though. I had to get his teeth cleaned more often from not chewing his food. |

| She's eating Ziwi Peak, and they're not hard - they have the consistency of a jerky. Similar to that of the Wellness Pure Rewards. Even that she inhales >.> |

| my bentley does this too lol. the only way i can get him to NOT inhale his food is to feed him a piece at a time and only praise him when he CHEWS it i have even purchased larger size kibble just for him and he will still swallow that whole unless i hand feed it. he loves eating! bree on the other hand is such a dainty eater! it takes her forever to eat because she grabs a piece, runs away from her dish, chews it and runs back for another
