Greenies Work Greenies and Dentasticks seem to help my two boys. It may be the food you are feeding your dog. If the dog gets alot of table food that could cause it.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | If he's a puppy, it could be due to teething, when they lose teeth, they get bad breath, if he's a little older, it could be due to a double row of teeth, yorkies don' t always lose the baby teeth on their own, and the double row causes food build up, and in that case, the baby teeth need to be pulled. Usually this is done during neutering. If he's an older dog, it could mean tartar build-up. Tartar builds up along the gum line and causes gums to become inflamed and pockets form where food can build up and cause bad breath. Eventually the tooth loosens and needs to be pulled. Some of the ways in which to reduce tartar buildup include, brushing the teeth using toothpaste made for dog, hard foods and chew sticks can stimulate gums, and scrape teeth. There are also several dental products you can use to reduce tartar build-up. I use Petzlife, it comes in a spray or gel, and it is said to soften tartar, so you can brush it away at a later time. Remember, don't cover up bad breath, find the cause and correct it.

Thank you guys for all the answers. My yorkie is 8 months old. So he is still a puppy. I dont see any tartar build up on his teeth. I did brush his teeth but not often. It's very hard for me to brush his teeth because he keeps moving and I use my pointing finger just rubbing his teeth back and forth. I hope this bad breath is just time for him to loose his teeth. Should I bring to the dentist to pull out his baby teeth? Or I can just wait and let them fall off by themselves.

It is hard to brush their teeth, I use poultry flavored toothpaste, and that helps, and I also like the fingertip brushes, but some people prefer a child's toothbrush. Regular dog tooth brushes seem too big to me. Don't use human toothpaste, it can make a dog really sick from the sweetner in it.

Here is the thing. I dont want my dog gets neutered. I feel pity on him. I want him to grow naturally because I dont see the point of doing that. I might be wrong because I am a newbie here. Thanks for the info though. I will try to see if my dog has double row teeth or not. Last time I checked it was ok.

I use to feel the same way you do, until I learned more about it. Dogs don't understand or appreciate sex like humans do. Sex for dogs is a hormonal thing, and once these hormones kick in, a dog can be very unhappy if he smells a female from several miles away, yet can't get to her. He can become anxious and moody, and aggressive. Being hit by a car is the number one cause of death in unneutered males. Right now your little guy is basically the same as a young boy, however once the hormones kick in, he'll be like a teenager looking for love in all the wrong places. Neutering help keeps them a healthful happy puppy, instead of a raging bull.

Thanks again for the info. So 8 months old is about time to do neutered. I saw him humping my hand alot, almost everyday. That might be one of the symptoms. I still feel bad to do this. It makes me think that my dog is not a male anymore because of loosing that hormone. He is very energetic dog by the way. I love him... Anybody knows how much it cost to do this?

I use CET poultry flavor and Pablo love to have his teeth brushed. I try and brush couple times a week. You have to get him use to something being in his mouth. Try massaging his gums while he sits on your lap.

I dunno, we had a Golden Retriever once, with bad hotspots, we never got him fixed. I think he lived a full life, even though I'm sure he didn't get it as often as he'd have preferred. But, he was a laid back guy. Life is suffering, for dogs too. Just makes happy times happier. I mean, how many times do they smell steak cooking, and not get any. Same thing. just thinking out loud.

When My yorkie got bad breath, it was from baby teeth that would not fall out and stayed loose...It did not go away so I went to the doctor last week and had the remaining four baby teeth pulled. Two of the teeth had and infection and that was the reason for the bad breath. My yorkie is one year old and so you know the baby teeth should be gone by then!
