| How much grain-free? I have been feeding my Emma Innova Evo for several weeks now and she seems to be doing really well on it. My question is how much do those of you who feed grain free feed. She is 1 year old and weighs 10 lbs. She does not get a lot of exercise. I have been feeding her 1/2 cup a day but she always wants more. She didn't do that on her old food. They say the extra protein should fill them up more. I don't want to overfeed her in case of weight gain. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks so much! |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | I use the portion guideline located on the bag. It varies a bit from brand to brand...but the 1/2 cup portion sounds correct.

| How do her ribs feel? Does she seem to be losing weight? I recommend feeding per the guidelines but the correct amount can vary from dog to dog depending on activity levels, etc. You could try feeding slightly more than recommended and see if this helps her without making her gain weight.

| The bags give such a wide range of weight and feeding guidelines that I feel like I am just guessing. That's why I thought I would check and see how much everyone else feeds. She is pretty thin right now but my other yorkie is a little on the chubby side and it is really hard to get them to loose weight so I was trying to be careful and not overfeed her. Thanks for everyone's comments! |

| Franklin and Maggie are 10 and 13lbs. They eat Wellness Core or Nature's Instinct Variety and I give 1/4 cup for breakfast and dinner and 1/8 cup for lunch.. so the 1/2 cup sounds right, depending on your dogs activity level. Mine are pretty active. I alter their intake if I feel they are getting too fat or thin but I always use a 1/4 cup scoop and adjust from there so it's not much difference.
