| How has spaying changed your dog I am not sure if it is true, but I have heard that "dogs gain weight after they are spayed." Now I have to tell you that I believe dogs, like people, gain weight with an increase of calories and decrease in excersize. Anyways, some of you may have heard my online worries about my super-picky eater of a yorkie. Well, I got her spayed 2 and a half weeks ago, and now she is a SUPER eater. She even get's excited when she thinks it is time for food and LOVES her dry dog food now! Has anybody else seen changes in their dogs after they have had them spayed? |

| There were no changes in Jewels. She did gain a couple pounds but I just feel it was normal growth and not because of the spay.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Perhaps it has something to do with her age...Ramsey was spayed at 6 months and it didn't change her eating habits or weight...but she was still a growing puppy too.

| i don't see any changes in my kiddos. Maybe because I got all 3 of mine spayed young around 6 months.

| The whole thing about dogs gaining weight after they get spayed is not true at all. Fiona has not be any different than she has before she was spayed!

| This article was posted on the YT Breeders forum. http://www.naiaonline.org/pdfs/LongT...uterInDogs.pdf "Owing to changes in metabolism, spay/neuter dogs are more likely to be overweight or obese than intact dogs." There's more detail in the article.

| Crazy Dog Bella got spayed in Nov. of "08". She was 14 months old. She had her first heat cycle in Sept. "08". I have to say she is still the pickiest eater ever, until I put down something she likes then she goes to town on it. But she has become very hyper and loves to play like when she was a puppy. So funny she runs around and constantly wants to play tuggy and catch. |

| I had Bella spayed shortly after she was 6months old and before her first heat cycle. She has gained some weight but I think that has more to do with the food she has been on, Natural Balance, than with anything else. I am back to the drawing board and switching and researching food again.
