My Simon has bad eye gunk and I cannot remove it. I've tried soaking with warm wash clothes, to no avail. It's the consistency of wet tar.
Help please!

i dont know if this will work on yorkies
but maltease are known for their eye gunk and eye stain
if you go to the vet they sell special solution to gently remove the gunk and the stain

ask the vet if its appropriate for yorkies ( i dont see why not) and use it.

Can you gently loosen it with a fine comb (like a flea comb)? That could work-soften it as best you can with a warm wet washcloth first.

I use wet q-tips -- easier to get in there for the precision work. Once they are soft enough, I start pulling on the suckers with my finger nails. I was worried it would be like pulling on a person's eye lash, but my dog seems to tolerate it fine.

I have that problem with Mia. Her eyes get very dirty. I spoke to the vet about it and he said the best thing is to cut the hair around the eyes he did that for me. As far as the solution he recomends me not to start that with her yet. He saids simply removing the hair around the eyes should help enough. He also told me to to grab a wash cloth soaked with warm water and really really wet it. The start picking it with your hands don't pull it off until it slides right off which it will. It takes time and is anoying but this is the best way. Also what I do is. I try to clean it everyday with baby wipes so it doesnt build up.

I use baby wipes warmed up and Show eyes to remove eye gunk. I use my fingers to pull it off and a flea comb to get what my fingers did not. Warm water will loosen it up too!! Good-Luck, Hope this helped...

When we got Boo, his eye gunk was so bad we thought he actually had an injury that was healing over. You could see red sore skin under the "scab". We put a tiny bit of Neosporin ointment on them and after a few days realized that it wasn't an injury but gunk and the Neosporin had helped to soften them up. It probably took us 2 weeks to finally get him complete eye gunk free.

I have since heard of using and tried, Chamomile tea bags. Brew a tea bag to boiling and then let it steep for a few minutes. Then take it out of the water and let it cool to a warm temp. Take the tea bag and hold it to the area for a little bit, be careful to not get it in the eye. Then with your fingers or a flea comb, carefully start working to loosen the gunk. Continue alternating between soaking and combing the gunk off. Gracie got bad eye gunk a few times, and I've used the tea bags and it seemed to work well.

We do regular face washing now to keep ahead of the gunk.

I use warm water on a wash cloth, then a tiny mustache comb. I got it from a men's grooming kit. The gunk combs out after it softens. I think neosporin or mineral oil in small amounts might help to loosen it too.

Copper's used to get bad in the spring and early summer, I think it was allergies. Anyway I use chamomile tea bags steaped in warm water. Then I let it sit on the gunk for a little bit and use the tea bag to gently wipe them. I worked really well for me and is completely natural. good luck

Someone on here suggested awhile ago to buy the generic brand of "artificial tears" (I think it needs to say boric acid?? in the ingredient list...I could look to make sure when I get home if need be...), then to use a cotton ball soaked in it to soak the gunk. Bella's have never been that hard, but her's always is much easier after I do that. It's worth a try!!

I wipe Bentley's "gunk" down about 3x per day with a warm washcloth. It might be excessive wiping but when I first got him we got a gunk ball stuck in his hair so I started that after breakfast, lunch & dinner.

I use Diamond Eye by Vitacoat and it works well on both my Yorkie and my Biewer.

I read somewhere to give 'em bottled water and it will help eliminate the eye discharge? I started giving Bailey bottled water last week and it seems to be working? Not 100% but it has slowed down quite a bit!

I usually have an easy enought time picking out the girls' eye goobers between baths. However, I try to clean their eyes really well in the tub. I scrup around their eyes using baby shampoo. The don't mind it at all and it does a really nice job.
