My baby has 3 hard bumps under her spay scar

I have a question. My baby was spayed about 3 weeks ago ond she healed nicely, except just under the skin you can feel like 3 hard bumps right under the scar. They are about 1/8" apart. I just thought they were the stitches underneath but now I'm getting concerned. She is 7mo old and about 3lbs. Maybe I can feel them because she really doesn't have any meat there. I don't know. HELP!!

take her to the vet, and ask them to needle aspirate it. She may have some fluid from the stiches or just having a reaction- no need to panic, im sure she will be fine! Just call your vet.

Do they seem painful to her? or hot to the touch!?

Sunshine had the same bumps after her spaying. It took a long time before they were gone. It is normal. She recently had surgery to fix a hernia that was caused when she had a c-section and spay. She now has the bumps again, but the vet says they will go away in time.

Lily was the same way. Hubby said it felt similar to BB shots, but since they didn't seem to bother her, I didn't worry too much about it. They're just about gone now. I think it must just take a while for them to heal up.

Oh! Thank you so much. I feel better now. I know they used heavier stitches inside. They kind of do feel like little bb's. They don't bother her at all. I will keep an eye on them. Thanks again

this was soooo helpful, my little perla just got those too and i was freaking out! i didn tknow if she got an infection or what and so when i googled it, this conversation came up and i feel so much better that alot of little yorkies got it, she also isnt bothered by them or licking them or anything.
so thank you, you really took this mommy out of distress!

I noticed the same thing on KaCee after she was spayed. In time, they disappeared just as others are saying.

There are internal and external stitches. What you are feeling are (more than likely) the internal stitches. They are made of disolving material, so when they finally disolve, the skin relaxes and the bumps go away.

Nothing to worry about.

OTOH, if they're hot to the touch or they hurt, that's a different story and should be looked at. But in the overwhelming number of times, it's only the internal stitches.

I agree that bumps under the incision are extremely common and usually nothing to worry about, however, some can be problematic and only an experienced vet can tell you if they are okay. Ellie had tons of small bumps under her incision (probably from the internal stitches) and one large one probalby half the size of a marble (turned out to be okay). The problem is that they can get abcessed under the skin from the whole ordeal, especially if they mess up the stitching, so it is always best to ask your vet. I would be more concerned about one large bump than several small ones...

Gracie had the same thing. Vet said they were internal sutures. It took a good 6 months for them to dissolve away.

Same thing with Lexilyn. I worried myself sick about them, took her to the vet and he said the internal stitch thing. Of course, I'm the mother and I knew better. It had to be something more serious. Nope. They're all gone now! It took about 5 months.

OK IM BACK, and worried again, im going to take her to the vet hopefully tomorrow but 2 of her bumps have gotten reddish? anyone else experience this? but if i touch them it doesnt seem to bother her shes still isnt licking it or anything... so did anyone else's little ones have redness to them?

Ellie had a very small red area and a tiny bump (I think from the end of the sutures) but that was unrelated to her other bumps. She also had bruising a centimeter away from her incision.

Incisions are just one of those things that the vet should see if you are concerned because if they are abscesses, they will need to be taken care of...

Emma had the same thing...A few small bumps under her incision site...It took awhile for them to go away.
