| Question about age and being fixed Hi, As you know, I have 2 yorkies. Well I also have a toy fox terrier,Daisie Mae. She's 7 now and I never had her fixed because she never let anyone NEAR her. (she's a little bit of a witch, but she's My witch!) I had Herky, a pomeranian, and they Never. But for some unknown reason she became huzzy and is now going to have pups. I'm Very worried and anxious. After she has them, is she too old to put under the knife? I Will be getting Samson fixed. But should I have her fixed? She's got milk so will be going any day. Toy fox terrier and Yorkie, what a combo!!

Wow! They maybe real pretty, you never know!!!!! 7 is not too old to get her fixed. Talk to you vet- let them know she is pregnant, since she is older they may want you to do more for her and the unborn puppies! But, yes, when she is all done weaning the puppies off, take her in, make sure they do bloodwork, and get her fixed! I'm sure she will do just fine!

| Oh, dear. I would be more worried about her delivery at that age than being spayed. Seven is considered a senior in dog age. Just make sure she has bloodwork before her spay to make sure she won't have a problem with anesthesia. It will be much safer to spay her than risk another pregnancy. |

Seven is very old to be having pups and she is a first-time mom? How far along is she?

| I hope she's gotten proper vet care during this pregnancy. What did the vet say? I sure would be worried about her being a first-time mother at the age of seven.. This is probably going to piss some people off but I would have wanted to spay her and terminate the pregnancy as soon as I found out she was pregnant... Very risky.. Hope everything goes well.

| Sorry, I have to agree with a lot of the others...7 is awfully old to be having pups, especially with it being a first litter. |

| I agree it is old, it wasn't supposed to happen! I Really wasn't expecting this as she has never ever let anyone near her when in heat. I'm a stay-at-home wife/mom, so haven't been leaving the house for any length of time lately. The vet said keep an eye on her and let him know when she starts labor. Unfortunately my vet travels between three towns and I'm just hoping he's near if I'm going nuts, can't stand it anymore, (I give myself...oh about 10 minutes before calling) and want to take her in. Told hubby I'll be calling him to come home from work. I'm Very anxious/concerned. Oops, double post, Sorry!
