My 4-month old yorkie just got her first top knot and a halloween bow

How long can I keep the top knot in for?

I keep Lilly's bow in all day but I make sure it's not too tight or pulling at her head. I take it down at night whenever she gets her jammies put on.

I keep it in during the day and take it out that night or the hair gets matted

Joey has a topknot in all the time; sometimes I loosen it a bit overnight, but his hair doesn't ever tangle or mat. Can we see pictures please?

I cannot help, but I would like to ask everyone here... HOW do you get your babies still to tie up her hair? Mocha HATES it.. but she has to get used to it soon as her hair is getting longer now. But i have no idea how to make her keep still. I've used treats, to no avail..

Joey's breeder gave me a little bone shaped pillow, and said to use it only for grooming. I have a rather large toothbrush that I stroke his forehead with, and he lies right down on the pillow. Then I do the topknot. This link gives some good tips on placing a topknot, and she uses two bands which are really helpful when they are a puppy. Casual Way to Put Dog Bows In

I had a hard time with Lilly and bows when she was a wee puppy. I just kept on trying to work with her though. She's now gotten to where she comes and sits in my lap when she sees me get the brush and a bow out. I also give her a treat every time she's a good girl and lets me do it which is pretty much every time.
