| Skin Problem I have two little yorkies Coco amd Belle and they are sisters aged three now.. Coco is in perfect health not a single problem but Belle? she has an on going skin problem, she had a blood test £205 which told us she has an alergie to beef and house mites,(she never eats beef) so we had a vacine made up for her another £180, so the vet gave her ten injections at £12 each but all it has done is make it worse? can any one help Belle, Do you know of an herbal shampoo or somthing apart from filling her up with drugs that could help. The latest thing the vet mentioned was a tablet that cost £5 a day and that would be for life? I live in South Wales in the UK my email is. Any help would be wonderfull. clive.harrison1@ntlworld.com |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | You don't explain what exactly her skin condition is, so it's kind of hard to recommend anything other than possibly an oatmeal bath/shampoo. At least that would help alleviate itching. I don't know that I would feel confident with the testing results and certainly wouldn't feel comfortable with daily meds, especially when the injections only made the situation worse.

| Skin Problem. The problem she has makes her come out in nasty looking scabs on her skin they are not all over her but in patches they dry up and form scabs that flake, the good thing is it is not bothering her she is not scatching at them. Out vet gave us some shampoo called Maliceb and also some cream called Fuciderm the shampoo drys out the patches but we cant see it getting any better as sated since the injections it got worse. I am not happy about her having meds every day for life there must be something we can use to help her she is only three and the most happy little dog you could wish to meet, her sister Coco has no problems at all? |

| Her skin condition may be something she's eating. Blood tests don't always show what all they are allergic to. I would suggest changing her food. This is a WONDERFUL site: Most Pet Foods are Unnatural and Unhealthy - DogtorJ.com |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | One of my foster's is suffering from a very similar skin condition also. Two different vets have diagnosed him with irritations/staph infections due to the fleas he had when we got him from the shelter. He has been on antibiotics but each round has only been for 10 days. After reading the article from the link below, I'm thinking he wasn't on them long enough to get rid of the staph infection. Possibly the information could help in your Belle's case. Bacterial Infections in Dogs | Dog Bacterial Infections - by Dr. Carol It's also possible she has an allergy to the shampoo you're using, which is why I suggested the oatmeal shampoo. It will alleviate any discomfort and rarely causes irritation.

| Skin Problem Many thanks for your replys, On the food side she only eats chicken and biscuits the blood test told us she was alergic to Beef and house mites? She never eats beef and as for the house mites what can you do? I will try the oat meal shampoo and see if it helps. As I said it does not bother her she is not scratching all day she pays all the time with her ball and anoys her sister I just wish we could get rid of this rash on her little body. I spoke to my vet a few days ago regarding her treatment she told me we will carry on with the injections untill the course is finished it can take up to nine months to kick in? personal I think thats aload of cow dropings. I was hoping to hear that there was a good herbal shampoo that would clear up her problem. Many thanks for all thr replys. Clive H. |

| Hi, I'm curious as to where you purchase the medicine that has worked for your Yorkie? I have a 12-year old that I have to bathe weekly to help him with a similar problem. He gets the small scabs on his back. Bathing him with an oatmeal based shampoo does help and I also put a little Tea Tree Oil on his back since it is an anti-inflamatory.
