| Greenies I was just curious....I have heard that greenies can be dangerous for smaller dogs....and since my Daizy loves them just curious if anyone else feeds greenies to their little furballs?? I also heard that one Yorkie almost died because he got really sick from eating too many greenies...wonder how many is too much?? Daizy loves having at least 3 a day...she's 5 lbs...so any thoughts??

| I don't know, 3 a day sounds like a lot though. I gave Meeko a few of them when i first got him but didn't want to risk them. He's not one for small bites. When I did, I'd hold it so he could only chew a little bit off at a time. Supposedly the new formula is better but, i'm not sure

My furkids Donating Member | I would say to much of anything isn't good. Greenies supposedly have changed to make them more digestible. A while back they were getting lodged in the intestines and causing big problems. Some dogs had even died. I wouldn't take the chance of giving them to them at all but, that's just MO. Bully sticks are supposed to be good...Several members give them to their furbabies. The LAST time I gave one to Sadie she chewed to big a piece off of it and started choking. THANK GOD! she brought it up herself. Our ER vet in over an hour away and we would have lost her. Just make sure what ever kind of chewy you give, that you watch her/him carefully.

| Our babies loved the old ones but I quit buying them when I heard dogs were dying from eating them. I recently gave in and bought the new formulated ones to help keep their teeth clean and Daisy and Teddy don't seem to care for them as much. Sometimes they don't even want to take them from me. I was giving them one a day. Daisy has a hard time biting pieces off (the teenies) and so I carve little notches in the end of it and hold it for her. Since she is having a hard time biting and chewing it, I decided not to give them anymore. I'm a little afraid she will swallow a piece that is too big and choke. I am still a little freaked out about them anyway.

| greenies Latte loves Greenies, too, and I like that they are digestable, unlike rawhide. (I had to use the Heimlich on Latte this year when she swallowed a chunk of rawhide-never again!) I buy the Teenie Greenies and she gets one about every three days. I can't see myself giving her three a day. |

| I haven't given greenies to my littlest pup. And when I gave them to my older pup it wasn't very often and it was completely supervised. I watched him one time eating the greenie and it was the teenie tiny size and he basically had whittled it down to a small stick so it was no longer in the tooth brush shaped and then it was gone the next time I looked over. I was perplexed until a minute later he coughed and choked the entire thing back up. I realized then that they don't always chew them up first, they just inhale them. It was at that point that I stopped giving my pup the greenies. Not sure if I will give them to them again.

| re: greenies I'll definately check into those alternative chews for Daizy.... No since taking any chances with them. I always watch her when I give her any treat....but that would be very scary to see my little one choking!!!

| My Roxy loves Greenies! I only give her one every couple of days. The vet said one a day is fine but no more than that. I also watch her when I give it to her just in case she starts to choke on it (which she's never done)

| The problem with the old greenies were the dogs digestive systems werent digesting them and they were causing blockages. I dont know if the new ones are better but that fact that the company still kept selling the old version even though dogs were dying is reason enough for me to not buy them

| I don't use Greenies either. I did and my dogs loved them, but after the information came out about the dogs dying, I quit feeding them. I just don't trust the company ..... advertising for dog food/treats isn't regulated very well - so you can't really believe what you read. Since they had one very dangerous product that was killing people's beloved pets, I won't give them another chance. I'm sorry if I sound harsh, but that is just my opinion about Greenies. As an alternative I use Bully Sticks and small shank bones. |

| I gave Mocha a Greenie once, and she and my shihtzu vomited not 30 minutes after eating it, so never again. It may be fine for others, but I would not take the chance. I give them Kong Ziggies instead. And rawhide - Mocha chews and chews and chews so I'm not worried about choking. |

| I gave greenies once because the pet food store recommended these as healthy treats and good for their teeth. However, after one, Mica had a horrible case of diarrhea and even though she loved them I have never given another since. Some while later I heard about the dangers of greenies but initially I thought they were safe. |
