| Rabies shot Calla is 13weeks old. When is she due for her rabies shot? The vet said she is due but I read online that its to be given to puppies at 16 weeks. Who is right?

| The latest your state law will allow (usually 16 weeks or 6 months). But now I see you are in Nigeria, so what is the law there?

| I can't remember how old Kayla was but I took her in yesterday for her Jr. check-up. I told the vet I wanted the shots seperated into two visits because I was afraid for her to have all of them at once. He said they never had any problems and only with puppies it was recommended to do them seperate. Kayla was 1yr. old in June. He said she would only be sore. She got up this morning and was playing with no problems. You might even call the breeder or another vet and check to make sure. Good luck with that baby. |

| After this mine will only get their rabies every 3 yrs. I know alot have said they have had problems, but thank God she did fine. Little wart has gained up to 8lbs. which that also may help. I am sure no expert but I wonder if the little tiny ones like 3 or 4lbs. have more problems. Kayla's parents weigh 4lbs. She is just a little piggie. Its really hard to know what to do. Hope everything turns out good for your little one. |

| My understanding is that the Rabies shot is not given until at least 16 weeks. In California , there is a law . It is the only vaccine that is required for dogs to have. If they do not have it and bite someone, the dog has to be tested. It is done on the brain of the animal . My Suzi had hers done at about 20 weeks. SHe did fine. the only thing she did was sleep for a long time. Check you local State laws. Also, it is best to have the vaccine given separtely from any others. I do think it has to do with the size of the dog. AND if the dog has a sensitive immune system or allergies.

| We went to the Vets two days ago..and he told us to come back in a month for Pasquale's rabies shot...he's 12 weeks now..so that would make it 16 weeks when he gets it.

| 4 months, I would wait until then. Esp if your baby is small. My yorkie had some reactions to the vaccines. And with my 3 mo old he had a reaction to evey vaccine that he has had so I am going to do his rabies at 4 months! It wont hurt to wait |

| I waited until my little one was 5 months (she is full grown at 2.7 lbs) and still, she lost her hair on the vaccination site. Its been another five months and the patch of skin is STILL bald. I never want to vaccinate again!
