| Recent Spay anyone?? Has anyone had their female spayed recently? I have a question. Mimi was spayed Thursday. I noticed today that she has sort of a "bludge" at and around the incision site. Did anyones little girl have this after surgery? It doesn't seem to bother her or hurt if I push on it. She seems to be good today. I am still keeping her quiet and laying low. My vet is out of town for the weekend, the nearest emergency vet is 1.5 hrs away. What does anyone think?? Thanks

| yes that its normal, i use to work at a vet and people would call after a dog or kitty spay with that same question. it is soo normal dont worry, in time it will go away. she has stitches inside too, to stitch her muscles inside back together. So, the swelling is from those stitches being irritated & a little swollen. you can hold a cloth soaked in warm/hot water against her belly for about 10 minutes twice a day. This would help reduce the irritation. The swelling will go down just a couple days after that. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Roxie was spayed 10 days ago and I noticed a hard swelling right below the incision so I took her in and the vet gave her medicine with a bit of a steroid as the swelling was starting to pull at the stitches. After 2 days on the medicine the swelling was gone. So just keep an eye on it.

| Should be ok...as long as the area is not looking red and inflamed..there will be a little swelling at first. My Pixie was spayed just a few weeks ago and she did brilliantly..her incision was tiny and she didn't even look at it..didn't bother her in the slightest..it was such a relief!
