| A new mole? My Samuel is going to be ten years old on August 12th and while I was bathing him last week I noticed a small bump on his underside, kind of in his armpit of his front right leg. I turned him over while I was brushing him and tried to get a good look at it. It looks like a mole, its not hard, I dont think it is a tick because i cannot see any legs and it is really squishy, flesh consistency. Should I be concerned if it is just a new mole? Are ticks ever of a fleshy consistency? We tried to pick it off initially and it bled but didn't come off. I know that older dogs can develop new moles, is this ok?

| Skipper had something similar to that. I didn't know what it was. His was between his left hind leg and belly area. It started off flesh color, then it turned a greenish color and then it disappeared. The vet told me to keep an eye on it and to call them if there were any changes. Sorry, I am not much help. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | A lot of dogs develop "skin tags" and they are usually benign - humans get them too. As they get older, they seem to be more common as well (and, they can grow). Do you have a vet appt. in the next couple months or so? You could get it looked at then. But, if you're worried or unsure of what it is (and I certainly can't diagnose it, lol!), you could get it looked at. My experience has always been that it's a skin tag.
