| 8 Week old won't eat I have an 8 week old little boy, that has been thoroughly weaned from Mom, and was eating fine - weight good, etc. He suddenly has decided not to eat. No signs of coccidia or parvo, vet checked. What would you recommend I can use to tempt him? I am now feeding a/d via syringe. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thank you. |

| How long have you had him? How long hasn't he been eating? What was he eating? What did the vet say? I would make sure you give him some Nutrical so that he doesn't get low blood sugar. I would try anything at this point that he will eat....canned food or cooked & shredded chicken & rice. I'm sure others will have some better suggestions. Just keep a close eye on him. |

| He is mine. His litter mates are all doing excellently. I do give him Nutrical and he is drinking water on his own. He just won't eat. I tried Pedigree pouch last nite, and he started licking the gravy and ate maybe three bites, then (like he realized what he was doing) just stopped and showed no more interest. I think he is just pining for MOMMIE and is stubborn. He is playful and inquisitive still, not turned in on himself. I will try the shredded chicken. I've tried yogurt, and treats, and different food... nothing yet. Thank you. |

| Is momma still allowing them to nurse?? if so, he may just be having enough... my pups are 10 weeks old, and momma still gives them a treat once in a while... I started mine with a mix of nutro canned food, and crumbled dry food, with some puppy milk and water.... then canned with whole dry food... now they decided they will have only the dry... so I am happy... it took to the little girl a bit more to decide to eat... Hope that helps... I would keep an eye on him, as for liquids intake... Good luck, this little ones have a mind of their own, and can be stubborn!

| I had the same problem with Lily. YT was a lifesaver for her. Try this recipe that someone here gave me. It helps keep their blood sugar up and they really seem to like it. I showed it to my vet and he gave it a thumbs up 1/2 cup goat's milk 1/2 cup Gerber rice cereal 1 jar of Gerber's baby meat (I used beef) 1 tsp. karo syrup It originally used half and half but I replaced it with the goat's milk because the half and half tended to cause diarrhea. After a few days, you can start to add ground up kibble or canned dog food to this. Each day you can increase the ratio of dog food to above recipe until you are just feeding the dog food. In Lily's case, I also gave her a liquid supplement called Rebound that you can get at the vet's office. This gives them all the nutrients and vitamins they need.
