Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Pre-Surgical / Non-Surgical LPs: What Supplements Are You Using? For those of us who have babies with Luxating Patellas - but are non/pre-surgical, at this point - I thought it might be interesting to see what everyone is using for a supplement. Right now I'm using, for Wylie, Flexicose but am considering a couple others...

| Brooke had some acupuncture done and it really tightened up her tendon some. My chi, Bitsy is a grade 3 but since I put her on raw the vet wants to wait on her surgery. She isn't hopping as much. Other than that I just put Salmon oil in their food and sprinkle a vitamin supplement their dinner too.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Geesh, I thought there were more of us pre/non-surgicals out there, but maybe not. Maybe I should instead ask: I'm currently supplementing Wylie w/ Flexicose, hoping to support his knees - is there any other product I should instead consider?

| Layla is stage 2 in her back right leg, however, every time we visit the vet she checks her leg and reminds me she has it as if to prepare me... i hope she is just being vigilant. Right now she is on no supplement because the one we were using was bothering her. I was considering Cosequin but i was doing research on the ingredients and wasn't crazy about a few of them. Right now i'm looking into Tri-acta. It is Canadian (YAY for us) and was originally formulated for horses. The store where i buy it from (a specialty pet store) has only had great results. One dog no longer needs surgery on a hip which sounded great. i like the ingredients more so i think we'll give that a try and I can get it locally and it's made relatively locally which i love. We also do hydrotherapy.. Layla does not love that. And we walk nightly.. she is learning to like that. I'm doing my darnedest to make sure we dont' have surgery. |

| Roxy had surgery on both legs (Grade 2+ and Grade 3). After 6 weeks her left leg started to luxate again, so surgery again to stabilize it. After 6 months her right leg can luxate. We were going to do surgery to stabilize it, but she had a staph infection and then the liver issues.... Honestly, I am scared to death to put her back under So, she lost about 1 pound of weight and I give her Synovi G3 (low allergy formula) everyday. Which both has helped as I do not hear or feel the 'clicking' in her one leg anymore |

| Per Ellie's nutritionist, the ONLY supplement for this I would give is Cosequin. It is backed by studies and not just, "Hey, try my product." Until new research is available, I would go so far as to say the other supplements may be a waste of money.

| well i did the "looking up" last night so can't tell you the exact ingredients but when i was looking a few of them up... they are used for various reasons... one is even used for PMS.... and i didn't like that the ingredients weren't just specific for ligaments... but that's just me. I found a product that has similar ingredients in similar amounts. |

| Frequently-Asked Question Frequently-Asked Question Frequently-Asked Question Hopefully these links work. There could very well be another brand out now that is just as good but at that time Cosequin was the best. I would hesitate to trust a company's claims that their product works well if it hasn't been proven true. But if you are using something now and you are sure it is working, then there probably is no reason to change.

I saw that link by Ladymom but all I see is about 5 things including manganese and vitamin C, so that can't be what you are seeing.

It just makes me curious as to why they don't recommend something like Flexicose, which contains: Vitamin A 1250 IU Vitamin C 15 mg Vitamin E 7.5 IU Manganese 0.7 mg Glucosamine HCL&Sulfate 1500 mg Chondroitin Sulfate 120 mg Flexibility Complex - Aloe vera gel, MSM, omega 3 fatty acids, niacinamide, yucca root, bromelain, Boswellia serrata
