| Gaining too much weight?? Hey guys... My husband and I took Mia to the vet on Saturday. She is 16 wks old, and weighs 3.6 lbs. She only weighed 1.4 lbs when we got her at 8 wks. Our breeder said she would probably only be 3.5 lbs full grown! I could care less how much she weighs... she could weigh 20 lbs and I would still love her just the same. I just hope this is not unhealthy. Is this too much weight in so little time? The vet said she has quite a bit more growing to do, and he laughed and called her "stalky". She has a really short body, and short legs, so she doesn't appear to be big for her size. She has always been a good eater, I just hope she isn't eating too much. She is still a puppy so I don't want to regulate her food yet. She is very active, so I am thinking maybe some of it is muscle. If anyone knows anything about this, I would appreciate your imput! Is this normal? And how big will she probably get? Thanks! |

| Neighbors of mine have two small yorkies (really short legs) and they are adorable, but they are husky and weigh as much as Bell , who seems to tower over them. Your baby is stiill a puppy so you still need to feed her puppy food and since she is active you should not be cutting back too much.. But you can make sure she isn't getting to many snacks.. Or at least change her snacks to some healthy ones like carrots or broccoli.. Oh and since she is already 4 months she should start slowing down and reach her almost adult weight around 6- 8 months

| Well your breeder was way off on the sizing. My girl was 12 oz at 8 weeks and she is 4 lbs today. My guess is that she will be about 6lbs. Thats a nice sturdy size.

| Sully was 3.2 pounds at 10.5 weeks - and now, fully grown, he is 8.9 pounds! He's not wide around, he's just a long-torso yorkie But we couldn't love him more than we do, he's our pride and joy! Oh, btw I meant to add that Sully's mom was 7lbs and his dad was 6lbs - so you never really know. .....but since he's really tall....it makes him a good basketball player, right?

| From my experience Mia should weigh in around 7-8 pounds full grown. Dogs grow until they are a year old according to the SPCA. Sometimes they will continue to fill out until they are around 18 months old. Bengie weighed 2.5 pounds at 4 months and now weighs 8 pounds, Garett weighed in at 2 pounds at 4 months and he weighs 6.5 pounds now and they are 17 and 16 months respectively. |
