| Royal Canin.... good or not? Hey everyone..... So Roxi is on Merrick, and has been her whole life, now she is showing signs of not liking it anymore.... When we picked up Rocco, the breeder has him on Royal Canin... All the Roxi wants to do is eat his food! Should I SLOWLY start to switch Roxi to his food, the other way around, or just new food for the both!! Help!! Don't know what to do, but what I DO know is that I want them both on the same food!! Any suggestions would help x

| Royal gets mixed reviews a lot of Yorkies have problems because of the corn. Since Merrick is all life stages you could switch the puppy over I would try a different flavor of the Merricks. |

But I haven't tried anything new yet. Also, FYI I would have posted this in food sec. but I did, and only got one response!! (she was VERY helpful though!!) Thanks!

| The Royal Canin has the corn gluten in there and that was one of the deadly ingredients last year with all of those recalls and dogs dying of kidney failure. I am sure they have fixed the problem by now but it would be too risky IMO. Here are the ingredients in the Royal Canin Yorkshire: As i mentioned in your other thread about the same thing...you should just read the labels on whatever you decide. When you change a dog's food you should transition them very slowly from a week to 10 days by gradually replacing their old food with their new food.Ingredients:Chicken meal, brewers rice, corn gluten meal, chicken, chicken fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols), brewers rice flour, dried eggs, brown rice, barley, natural chicken flavor, cellulose, beet pulp, brewers yeast, canola oil, salmon oil, potassium chloride, chicory extract, dried sweet potato, salt, vitamin E supplement, L-tyrosine, ascorbic acid, taurine, borage oil, choline chloride, magnesium oxide, salmon meal, iron proteinate, marigold extract, dehydrated alfalfa, dried spinach, dried blueberries, glucosamine hydrochloride, zinc proteinate, chondroitin supplement, flax seed, calcium carbonate, folic acid supplement, green tea, grapefruit extract, zinc oxide, iron sulfate, manganese proteinate, biotin, iron proteinate, copper proteinate, calcium pantothenate, copper sulfate, sage, manganous oxide, vitamin A supplement, pyridoxine hydrochloride, sodium selenite, rosemary extract, niacin supplement, riboflavin supplement, thiamine mononitrate, vitamin B12 supplement, calcium iodate, vitamin D3 supplement I sent you a reply to your PM about this. If you still want to try the LA food, just send me your addy in a PM and i'll send you out a sample to try. Good luck in your search. I would also suggest doing a search on YT at all the threads about dog food. |

| My breeder used RC too. Bella loved it. I found out thru some research and a bunch of YTalkers that there are much better foods for the same price! We use Honest kitchen Force and Innova kibble . Good luch finding your food! |

These little babies can be very picky so just try different brands that have good ingredients and find the one that they both like and stick with it. Good luck! | |

You can read this on their website: Merrick Pet Foods So, if you want to continue feeding that brand, it's perfectly fine to give to both your puppy and your adult

| I use Royal Canin and I'm very happy with it. It is formulated for the needs of a yorkie and has different formulas for puppies up to 10 weeks, puppies up to 10 months and adults. |

The only difference between giving an all life stages food to a puppy and an adult is that a puppy should eat about double what the adult eats. I think that's on their website as well. Actually, it's probably on the back of the bag or can too. When I first got my little maltese at 7 months old, I fed her Merrick Grammy's Pot Pie until I started homecooking for her
