| Dewclaws? I've seen on here a lot of talk about dewclaws & getting them removed. Can someone please explain to me what this means? I have no idea what dewclaws are, lol. Why are they removed? How do I know if I should get my bbys dewclaws removed? Is this for their safety or is it a personal preference type of thing? -Amy

Donating YT 10K Club Member | If you feel the area up from the paw...about where you'd think the "wrist" would be...you may find a small lump with a nail attached. Usually these are removed when the puppy's tail is docked. It's a preventative measure as these claws can be caught on things and rip. If your puppy does have his dewclaws make sure to trim it along with his other nails....as it will curl and grow into his skin.
