Hello

) I have a 3 year old yorkie named Lucy who looooves to cuddle up at night. We have two other large dogs in the house that are constantly thirsty so we have a large water bowl that is constantly filled. Lucy likes to do what the other dogs do, and drinks all day long! Unfortunately, at night while she is sleeping, she wets the bed. She doesn't even know she is doing it. I have tried moving the large water bowl up higher so Lucy cant reach- no such luck. She's like a magician!!

Have any of you guys experienced this??

I'd just not let her have water after a certain time. Keep her gated away from the room where the water is. If that isn't possible then put a doggie diaper then pj's or let her have her own bed near the pee pad.

It is hard to not let them drink a lot in the evening when they have had a wild playtime. There has been times that I set an alarm to get up and take one of my babies out when I know there might be a problem. As suggested a doggie diaper would be an excellent remedy. Hate to see you not have her sleep with you when she obviously loves it. Good luck!

P.S. I find it interesting that she doesn't wake you up. Mine do as they get older. Wonder what's up with that? Interesting.

I would take her to the vet. Loki had this problem when he was a puppy and it turned out he had some medical problems. He's on medicine now.

Incontinence in females is very common after a spay and they have 2 or 3 types of medicine that help. While I agree no water close to bed time - she should at least be waking up and if she's not, it's not her fault and the medicine might help.

UTIs can cause leaking too. I would take a urine sample to the vet to rule out infection.

Does it work? Oscar is nearing 2 in April and for some reason, since we moved to the Virgin Islands about 2 months ago, he has been wetting on the bed when I leave him alone (not really alone--with Yitzee) while I'm at work. If anyone is using the doggie litter stuff, let me know if it works.

This happened to Yuki about a year ago. She drank a lot of water after playing/running around and took a nap by me on the couch. The next thing I know my leg was all wet. I totally freaked out and thought there was something wrong with her and took her to the vet the next day. They did a couple of tests and gave her some antibiotics to clear up any infection. Turns out the tests were negative and she was fine. I just over reacted. Now when she drinks a lot of water before bed time I try and take her out right before I go to sleep. We have 2 large dogs in the house too, and it's tough to keep the water away from the little one!

I have 3 yorkies and only one wets the bed, all 3 sleep with us. First, I would take the dog to the vet to make sure there is no medical condition causing the wetting. I did rule that out. I now use a belly band, I got from ebay, (just do a search). I do have to put a "pad" in it also. I do change my sheets alot too. He is sleeping when it happens, he is not lifting his leg. It is not every night but since I can't predict when it will happen I have found the belly band to be extremely helpful
