Hi all,

So I finally got Lila spayed yesterday and with preop blood work, 2 teeth extracted, and microchipped. It's alot but she is doing very well. My only concern is that she isn't eating much, and because of that she only had one poop which was dry and a little bloody. Otherwise, she is recovering well, and her wound is dry and intact. I'm thinking of taking her to the vet tomorrow but I wanted to know from you all how long it takes for them to eat and have normal stools after surgery.

I might be concerned with the blood in her stool. She still might be out of it from the anesthetic, or pain meds. When my Rocky was neutered, he was pretty much out of it the next day, but my Bella was also spayed yesterday and today she's pretty much back to her normal self.

I hope Lila has a speedy recovery!

I'd give her a good 48-72 hours for her appetite to be anywhere near normal.
I'd be concerned about the blood in the stool but it could be normal after surgery. I'd just call the vet and ask if that is normal.

Ask your vet about the stool. My Roxy took about 4 weeks to get back to her normal self. She really was scared and had a lot of nightmares for quite awhile. When she cried I took her back to the vet for more pain meds. You should be fine.

OK I understand you just got your furbaby spayed right? well to anyone else Do they calm down after being spayed?

So I took her to the vet and he thinks she has "stress colitis" from the surgery. He did a rectal on her and looked at it and said there was no blood. But in my head, I thought that was BS because he didn't even quiac it to see if there was blood! Anyway, he also said she had a mild temp. He gave me a can of Science Diet A/D and told me to feed her baby food as well. My poor little girl has only eaten a tiny amount of food today and has not had one poop! In spite of this she's trying to run around as if she doesn't have a huge scar on her belly!
