Warts/Growths on Older Yorkie My 12-year-old Susie Q. has become the victim of warts and growths as she has grown older. Two vets say they are benign and have no suggestions as to how to treat them. But they bother Susie. She can pick at them til they become bloody and raw. Has anyone out there had this problem? Any suggestions on salves, etc. that are safe to use, or alternative treatments? Thanks so much!

My Doodle has some of those warty things, but they are on his shoulder and out of reach of his mouth. He also has large fatty/watery cysts on his ribs, underneath his coat. Sort of gives him a hippy look in the middle. They have taken water out of them with a syringe, so we know they are perfectly harmless. The vet says that this frequently happens with old dogs, and Pogo is 13 now.

Yeah Lord Lee our Lhasa Apso had these too and they were harmless. I'd seek your vets advice over what to apply though.

Warts/Growth on Older Yorkie Thanks for the ideas. I'm still searching for something to apply. Evidently these growths are benign, according to vets, but they still hurt or itch Susie. Any ideas on topical creams that are safe? I'm afraid she will lick some off, and get sick from that! Any suggestions on anti-itch topical creams? Thanks for all previous replies!

Lucky, my 15 year old chow-mix will get a lick spot on her leg. She will lick it till she get a sore on it. I got Gentocin from the Vet and you just spray in on the spot. It tastes horrible but, Lucky will quit licking. I have had the same bottle since 1998 and have ask the Vet if it is still good and he said it was. She will get the spots a couple of times a year and then they go away. Hope this helps, I would be careful using any human product on her.................Cindy
