| ![]() LOL ![]() I certainly don't mind talking about it but there is no such thing as a healthy guarantee. Even a pup that checks out healthy could cost you THOUSANDS in ONE year. Three sets of shots plus rabies and bordatella and a wellness visit would be $100-$200. Then you have spay/neuter ($85-$500). That is the first year. Don't forget about heartworm med (atleast $60 a year) and flea med if you use it.

| ![]() Vet costs seem to vary per state. The first year I paid $225 per yorkie for puppy shots. I paid $110 for a spay and $90 for A neuter. I had some visits that probably amounted to $400. Whenever My dogs needed medications the bills would be higher. If you buyheartworm and flea meds from the vet you will have that expense. I am not sure how much that is since I buy mine online. Now that they are adults I have their annual visits which are $200 each which is for shots, wellness bloodwork, and heartworm test. Plus anytime I take them in because they are sick

| ![]() Don't forget the unexpected emergency visits, those cost the most.

| ![]() Banfield works well for some and not for others. It would depend on if you like the doctors in there. I prefer 24 hour emergency service, a vet with good bedside manner, one that will listen to you and take your thoughts into consideration while not pushing anything on you, someone who uses the right anesthesia and surgical protocol and will not charge you for phone calls.

| ![]() Recommendations from other small dog owners is a good way to find a Vet. I dont know anything about the vets in Petsmart but would be afraid they would not do the same testing or be as thorough as a regular vet

| ![]() Cheaper is not allways better, either is the most expensive. Ask people you know that have pets of similar size and where they go, and if they would recommend it. I've been going to the same vet for almost 30 years, over that time they have added to the practice including more doctors, procedures, and medical equipment. So if there is ever an emergency I know they will be able to do it there, instead of sending me somewhere else.

| ![]() like everyone has said.. it all varies.. plus, you're taking into consideration that this is a tiny dog.. you will be more worried if they jump off of something the wrong way.. if it starts coughing in a weird way (which could be just a regular cough or something more serious).. if they have weird colored poo.. which most of the time is nothing.. there's just so much more with the smaller breeds you don't consider.. I know for a fact I didn't... but they get you so hooked on the breed ![]()
