| Your dog is female right? You are going to get her spayed. You want to do this at 6 months. If you get it done before she has her 1st heat it elininates her chances to get mammary cancer

| I answered in your other thread. She should NOT have a heat before spaying and they don't all get it at six months...

| The only free neutering that I know of is when you rescue a dog. But I could be wrong. You should call a few different vets and price them...do you have a vet for her yet? |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Some vets push one way or the other. My vet and I waited with Lulu until she was 7 months that way we felt she was physically stable. He also wanted to let her get her growth done before he did it because of the hormone thing but we wanted it timed just right before she went into heat. 7 months was the charm for us. Zoey will be getting hers done around the same time.

http://muffins.org/ You buy a voucher and it helps reduce the cost of the surgery but you still pay for the blood work, meds and anesthesia if I remember correctly. I contemplated using it with Lulu but for the cost of it with the additional stuff and then having only a handful of vets accept it...didn't see to be worth it. The vets in my area that accepted it I wasn't all that keen on and I decided to go with my vet that had done some extra studies in micro surgery. I just priced it for Zoey and it will come to about $260 with teeth pulling, meds, surgery, blood work and anesthesia.

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | I see you live in Brooklyn...what part? I live in Glendale Queens and my vet has two offices. They are very good and I find their prices very reasonable compared to other vets that I have checked. Let me know if you want their info.
